Energy Infrastructure Partners Increases Stake to Majority in BayWa r.e.

Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP) has agreed to invest €150 million in BayWa r.e. via a capital increase, raising its ownership from 49% to 65% and becoming the company’s majority shareholder. The transaction is part of a broader recapitalization and restructuring of BayWa r.e. to support its transformation, strengthen its balance sheet and refocus on profitability and core renewable-energy markets.

The specialist biogas platform owns five operational biomethane plants in Germany and a development pipeline in Italy; GIG said it will grow the business across Germany, Italy and other European markets.
