Universal Pure Acquires Stay Fresh Foods

Universal Pure Holdings LLC (a Tilia Holdings company) acquired Stay Fresh Foods LLC effective July 1, 2019. The deal expands Universal Pure’s high-pressure processing (HPP) capacity and Northeast footprint—adding Stay Fresh’s two SQF Level 3-certified facilities in Meriden, Connecticut and Pennsauken, New Jersey—and brings beverage co-packing and additional value‑added services into the platform.

Viru Group Acquires Superior Foods International

Peru-based agro-industrial leader Viru Group has acquired Superior Foods International (SFI), a Watsonville, California-based supplier and manufacturer of frozen fruits, vegetables and value-added frozen products. The deal is intended to expand Viru's capabilities and product offerings in the U.S. market while SFI will continue operating with its current management team.

United Natural Foods (UNFI) Acquires Nor-Cal Produce

United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) acquired all outstanding stock of Nor‑Cal Produce and an affiliated entity, plus certain real estate, in a cash transaction of approximately $68.6 million. The purchase expands UNFI’s fresh produce capabilities and national produce footprint; Nor‑Cal, based in West Sacramento, California, reported about $151 million in net sales for the 12 months ended February 29, 2016 and Todd Achondo will remain in a leadership role.

Nature's Touch Acquires Sunrise Growers (SunOpta) Frozen Fruit Operations

Nature's Touch has acquired certain assets of Sunrise Growers, the frozen fruit operations of SunOpta Inc., in a transaction valued at an aggregate purchase price of approximately $141 million. The deal transfers facilities in Edwardsville, Kansas and Jacona, Mexico to Nature's Touch, expanding its production capacity, product diversity and North American geographic reach.
