AMETEK, Inc. has acquired Kern Microtechnik, a German manufacturer of ultra‑precision machining equipment and optical inspection systems, to bolster AMETEK's Ultra Precision Technologies capabilities within its Electronic Instruments Group. Kern is headquartered near Munich, Germany and generates approximately €50 million in annual sales; AMETEK cited technology, market and geographic expansion synergies from the transaction.

AMETEK Acquires Abaco Systems from Veritas Capital for $1.35B

AMETEK, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Abaco Systems, Inc. from Veritas Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.35 billion. Abaco, headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, is a provider of rugged embedded computing systems for aerospace, defense and specialized industrial markets with approximately $325 million in annual sales; the acquisition will fold Abaco into AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group and is expected to close mid-2021 subject to customary approvals.

EOTECH Acquires VK Integrated Systems

EOTECH has acquired VK Integrated Systems (VKIS), a Clarksville, Tennessee developer of weapon electronics, TAK-based situational awareness tools, and battlefield networking solutions. The purchase expands EOTECH’s capabilities beyond optics into integrated weapon sensors, edge computing, and turnkey TAK server offerings to accelerate battlefield digitization and C5ISR capability at the tactical edge.

Vitrek Acquires MTI Instruments

Vitrek has acquired MTI Instruments, a U.S. manufacturer of precision test and measurement equipment, expanding Vitrek's portfolio into turbine balancing, vibration analysis and non-contact metrology solutions. The deal brings MTI's engineering, sales and manufacturing teams into the Vitrek organization to accelerate product innovation and support customers across aerospace, defense, semiconductor/solar and industrial markets.

AMETEK Acquires FARO Technologies

AMETEK, Inc. has completed its acquisition of FARO Technologies, Inc. for $44.00 per share in cash (approximately $920 million, net of cash acquired). FARO will join AMETEK's Ultra Precision Technologies Division within the Electronic Instruments Group, adding 3D metrology, imaging, software and service capabilities to AMETEK's industrial technology portfolio; FARO reported annual sales of roughly $340 million.
