FARO Technologies Acquires GeoSLAM

FARO Technologies acquired UK-based GeoSLAM, a leader in mobile 3D scanning and SLAM software, in a transaction that closed September 1, 2022. The deal paid GeoSLAM shareholders £22.0 million cash plus 495,562 FARO shares and was funded from FARO’s cash reserves and equity consideration; GeoSLAM reported £14.5 million revenue (FY ended Mar 31, 2022) and ~18% EBITDA.

FARO Technologies Acquires SiteScape

FARO Technologies has acquired SiteScape, a developer of iOS-enabled LiDAR 3D scanning software for the AEC and O&M markets. FARO will integrate SiteScape’s mobile LiDAR capture capabilities into its FARO Sphere platform to expand its reality-capture offering and make low-resolution mobile scanning widely accessible to construction and facilities customers.

AMETEK Acquires Kern Microtechnik

AMETEK, Inc. has acquired Kern Microtechnik, a German manufacturer of ultra‑precision machining equipment and optical inspection systems, to bolster AMETEK's Ultra Precision Technologies capabilities within its Electronic Instruments Group. Kern is headquartered near Munich, Germany and generates approximately €50 million in annual sales; AMETEK cited technology, market and geographic expansion synergies from the transaction.

AMETEK Acquires Abaco Systems from Veritas Capital for $1.35B

AMETEK, Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Abaco Systems, Inc. from Veritas Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at $1.35 billion. Abaco, headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, is a provider of rugged embedded computing systems for aerospace, defense and specialized industrial markets with approximately $325 million in annual sales; the acquisition will fold Abaco into AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group and is expected to close mid-2021 subject to customary approvals.

AMETEK Acquires Virtek Vision International

The acquisition brings Virtek into AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group to complement its Creaform business and broaden automated 3D scanning, projection and inspection capabilities for aerospace, defense and industrial customers.
