Fastfrate Group Acquires Majority Stake in Challenger Group

Fastfrate Group completed a majority acquisition of Challenger Group (Challenger Motor Freight) following Competition Bureau Canada approval, expanding Fastfrate's network across Canada and into the United States. Challenger will continue to operate independently under incoming CEO Jim Peeples while Fastfrate maintains existing management and staff.

Fastfrate Group has acquired United Transfer Limited, a Saskatoon-based transportation and warehousing company, effective February 3, 2022. The acquisition expands Fastfrate's footprint in Saskatchewan (Saskatoon and Regina), enhances its intra-West services and final-mile offerings, and follows a prior partnership between the two companies; United Transfer was owned by Paul Glover and Paul Rigby prior to the transaction.

Fastfrate Group Acquires ASL Distribution Services Limited

Fastfrate Group has acquired ASL Distribution Services Limited, a Canadian transportation, warehousing, distribution and final-mile service provider. The purchase adds 13 terminals and final-mile hubs across Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and into New York, and is projected to increase Fastfrate Group revenue by about $120 million in 2021 while immediately providing Fastfrate entry into the e-commerce final-mile market.

Descartes Systems Group Acquires BestTransport

Descartes Systems Group acquired BestTransport.com, Inc., a Columbus, Ohio–based cloud transportation management system (TMS) provider focused on flatbed-intensive manufacturers and distributors. The acquisition (approximately US$11.2 million, net of working capital) expands Descartes' transportation management footprint and adds BestTransport's flatbed-focused TMS capabilities to Descartes' Global Logistics Network.

Canada Cartage Acquires The GTI Group to Enter U.S. Market

Canada Cartage Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire The GTI Group, a Montreal-based logistics provider offering brokerage, freight management, forwarding, drayage, intermodal, warehousing and specialized heavy/oversize trucking. The deal expands Canada Cartage’s service capabilities and marks its first entry into the U.S. market, with GTI’s U.S. offices in Houston, Des Moines and Franklin, Tennessee; the combined company is expected to generate over C$1 billion in annual revenue.

Bluejay Capital Partners Acquires Best Warehousing & Transportation

Bluejay Capital Partners has completed its acquisition of Best Warehousing & Transportation Inc., a third-party logistics provider based in Atlanta with 30 locations across 15 states. The transaction was financed with participation from Argosy Private Equity, Southfield Mezzanine, Spring Capital Partners and Key Bank; BWT's CEO Winston McDonald Jr. retains a sizable ownership stake.
