MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings, Inc. acquired ENGIN-IC, a fabless semiconductor design firm specializing in GaN MMICs and integrated microwave assemblies. The acquisition (funded with cash on hand) adds ENGIN-IC’s defense-focused MMIC and module design capabilities to MACOM’s portfolio to strengthen product offerings and support target markets.

Motorola Solutions Acquires Futurecom Systems Group

Motorola Solutions has acquired Futurecom Systems Group, an Ontario-based designer and manufacturer of in-vehicle, fixed and portable RF repeaters and extenders used to extend land mobile radio coverage for public safety agencies. The acquisition strengthens Motorola Solutions' product portfolio for mission-critical public safety communications; terms were not disclosed.

MaxLinear Acquires NanoSemi, Inc.

MaxLinear, Inc. (NYSE: MXL) completed the acquisition of NanoSemi, Inc., a Boston-based MIT spinout that develops patented machine-learning IP to improve signal integrity and power efficiency in SoCs, ASICs and FPGAs. The initial consideration included $10 million in cash and 804,163 shares of MaxLinear common stock, plus $35 million in deferred cash and up to $35 million in potential earnouts; the deal expands MaxLinear's capabilities for 5G and wireless system customers.
