AUA Private Equity Partners has acquired the assets of TruFood Mfg., Inc. (AOG, LLC d/b/a TruFood Manufacturing), a Pittsburgh-based contract manufacturer of nutrition and snack bars. AUA said it will provide capital, operational support and new executive leadership to expand TruFood's product development, R&D and customer service capabilities as part of its food manufacturing portfolio.

Mubadala Capital, in partnership with TruFood management, has acquired AOG, LLC d/b/a TruFood Manufacturing from funds affiliated with AUA Private Equity Partners. TruFood, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a contract manufacturer of nutrition and snack products; the acquisition is intended to accelerate growth, expand market reach, and advance product development while TruFood remains a stand-alone business.

TruFood Manufacturing, a Mubadala Capital portfolio company, has completed a combination with Bar Bakers, a Los Alamitos, California-based contract manufacturer of nutrition and protein bars. Manna Tree has invested alongside Mubadala Capital to support the combined business, which will be led by TruFood CEO Michael Buick and is positioned to expand west coast manufacturing capacity and broaden product capabilities.

Simply Better Brands Acquires TRU Brands (TRUBAR)

(TSXV: SBBC) completed the acquisition of TRU Brands Inc., the female-founded maker of plant-based TRUBAR protein snack bars, expanding Simply Better’s portfolio into the plant-based food category. The deal was paid via issuance of Simply Better shares (aggregate consideration $7.5M) and included satisfaction of Tru Brands’ outstanding indebtedness.

Wellness Natural, Inc., a newly created Toronto-based natural foods company led by CEO Michael Lines, has acquired the SimplyProtein nutritional snacking brand from Simply Good Foods USA, Inc. The acquisition transfers ownership of SimplyProtein — a plant-based, high-protein snack line sold across Canada and the U.S. — to Wellness Natural, which plans to expand the brand’s distribution and product growth under its leadership and board.

FoodScience Acquires Natural Dog Company

The deal—terms not disclosed—is FoodScience's first acquisition since becoming a portfolio company of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners and expands FoodScience's presence in pet wellness and supplements.
