Mubadala Capital, in partnership with TruFood management, has acquired AOG, LLC d/b/a TruFood Manufacturing from funds affiliated with AUA Private Equity Partners. TruFood, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a contract manufacturer of nutrition and snack products; the acquisition is intended to accelerate growth, expand market reach, and advance product development while TruFood remains a stand-alone business.

AUA Private Equity Partners has acquired the assets of TruFood Mfg., Inc. (AOG, LLC d/b/a TruFood Manufacturing), a Pittsburgh-based contract manufacturer of nutrition and snack bars. AUA said it will provide capital, operational support and new executive leadership to expand TruFood's product development, R&D and customer service capabilities as part of its food manufacturing portfolio.

Simply Natural Foods will operate as TruFood going forward; the company is headquartered in Commack, New York and has approximately 200 employees. Financial terms were not disclosed.

(TSXV: SBBC) completed the acquisition of TRU Brands Inc., the female-founded maker of plant-based TRUBAR protein snack bars, expanding Simply Better’s portfolio into the plant-based food category. The deal was paid via issuance of Simply Better shares (aggregate consideration $7.5M) and included satisfaction of Tru Brands’ outstanding indebtedness.

Manna Tree Partners Invests $15M in Verde Farms

Manna Tree Partners, a Vail, Colorado-based private equity firm, has made a $15 million minority growth investment in Verde Farms, a Woburn, Massachusetts-based producer and distributor of 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised organic beef. The capital will support Verde's product innovation (including ready-to-eat offerings) and accelerate its U.S. and international geographic expansion while scaling its branded, value-added meat business.
