JackRabbit, an omnichannel specialty athletic retailer owned by CriticalPoint Capital, acquired certain assets and liabilities of Olympia Sports — including its online presence and the "Olympia Sports" brand. The deal is an add-on to JackRabbit’s business that expands its brick-and-mortar footprint and e-commerce capabilities in the U.S. Northeast; the consolidated company will operate roughly 135 stores following the transaction.

Fleet Feet Acquires Marathon Sports

Fleet Feet, the largest franchisor of locally owned running stores, has agreed to acquire New England-based Marathon Sports, including its soundRUNNER and Runner's Alley brands and e-commerce business. The deal—timed with the retirement of Marathon Sports owners Colin and Penny Peddie—will keep Marathon Sports as a wholly owned, separately operated subsidiary headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts; financial terms were not disclosed.

Midwest Growth Partners Acquires Jackrabbit from Gladstone Investment Corporation

Midwest Growth Partners (a private equity firm) acquired Jackrabbit, Inc., a Ripon, California-based designer and manufacturer of specialty nut-harvesting equipment, from Gladstone Investment Corporation on April 30, 2019. The sale represented Gladstone's exit and realized gain on its investment; Jackrabbit will operate under MGP ownership to support growth in the permanent-crop agricultural equipment market.

Fleet Feet Acquires Flying Feet Sports Shoes (York, PA)

Fleet Feet has taken over the location formerly operating as Flying Feet Sports Shoes in York, Pennsylvania after owners Greg and Celine Baum retired. The store will be operated as Fleet Feet York by franchise owners Fred and Shelby Joslyn, who already own two other Fleet Feet locations in central Pennsylvania.

Fleet Feet Acquires South Sound Running Stores

Fleet Feet has acquired South Sound Running's two retail locations in Olympia and Puyallup, which will re-open as Fleet Feet Olympia and Fleet Feet Puyallup in early 2025. Local Fleet Feet franchisees Wade and Julie Pannell — who operate six other Washington stores — will operate the locations following the retirement sale by founders Greg Klein and Joan Marchioro.

Surefoot Acquires FrontRunners and Super Runners Shops

Park City-based ski boot retailer Surefoot, L.C. has acquired Los Angeles-based FrontRunners and New York City-based Super Runners Shops. The deal will relocate the acquired companies' headquarters to Surefoot's Park City offices and integrate Surefoot's custom footwear/orthotic technology into the running-store locations.
