Fleet Feet Acquires Marathon Sports

Fleet Feet, the largest franchisor of locally owned running stores, has agreed to acquire New England-based Marathon Sports, including its soundRUNNER and Runner's Alley brands and e-commerce business. The deal—timed with the retirement of Marathon Sports owners Colin and Penny Peddie—will keep Marathon Sports as a wholly owned, separately operated subsidiary headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts; financial terms were not disclosed.

The bolt-on expands FluidOne's Connected Cloud offering — completing its IT capability to better serve mid-market and enterprise customers — and is the firm's fourth add-on under Livingbridge, joining a group with roughly £68m revenue and ~310 staff.

The deal expands Easy Mile's footprint in the Pacific Northwest—making it the largest Planet Fitness operator in Oregon—and was financed by Fifth Third Bank with advisors supporting both sides.
