Seattle-based private equity firm Westward Partners has acquired a majority ownership stake in Superfeet Worldwide, the Pacific Northwest–based maker of performance and orthotic insoles. The transaction transitions Superfeet from a 100% employee-owned ESOP structure to PE ownership to support accelerated growth, expanded distribution channels, and product portfolio development.

Riverside-backed SureWerx Acquires Sure Foot Corporation (Due North)

SureWerx USA, a portfolio company of The Riverside Company, has acquired Sure Foot Corporation, maker of the Due North line of winter traction aids. The add-on purchase (terms undisclosed) expands SureWerx's PPE and safety product portfolio; Golub Capital provided debt financing for the deal.

Fleet Feet Acquires Marathon Sports

Fleet Feet, the largest franchisor of locally owned running stores, has agreed to acquire New England-based Marathon Sports, including its soundRUNNER and Runner's Alley brands and e-commerce business. The deal—timed with the retirement of Marathon Sports owners Colin and Penny Peddie—will keep Marathon Sports as a wholly owned, separately operated subsidiary headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts; financial terms were not disclosed.

Fleet Feet Acquires Flying Feet Sports Shoes (York, PA)

Fleet Feet has taken over the location formerly operating as Flying Feet Sports Shoes in York, Pennsylvania after owners Greg and Celine Baum retired. The store will be operated as Fleet Feet York by franchise owners Fred and Shelby Joslyn, who already own two other Fleet Feet locations in central Pennsylvania.

SureWerx Acquires Footwear Specialties International (FSI)

Fleet Feet Acquires JackRabbit

Fleet Feet has acquired JackRabbit, bringing all JackRabbit retail locations across 15 states and the jackrabbit.com e-commerce business into the Fleet Feet network. The deal, completed in early December 2021 from affiliates of CriticalPoint Capital, expands Fleet Feet's national footprint to roughly 250 locally owned and operated running stores and strengthens its omnichannel capabilities.
