QinetiQ US Acquires Avantus Federal from NewSpring Holdings

QinetiQ US, a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group plc, has agreed to acquire Avantus Federal from NewSpring Holdings for an enterprise value of $590 million. The deal expands QinetiQ's U.S. defense and intelligence capabilities by adding Avantus' cyber, data analytics, software development and space services, and is expected to close by the end of 2022 subject to regulatory approvals.

KKR and EIG Acquire Majority Interest in Avantus

KKR-backed funds and accounts managed by KKR have acquired a majority equity interest in Avantus, a U.S. developer of utility-scale solar and solar-plus-storage projects. Coinciding with the close, Avantus secured a $522 million development facility arranged by KKR Capital Markets and SMBC to accelerate deployment of its more than 30 GWdc solar and 94 GWh storage pipeline across the Western United States.

Ciphr Acquires Shape Payroll

Reading-based HR software group Ciphr has acquired Shape, a cloud-based, API-first payroll platform used by around 1,500 UK businesses. The deal (Ciphr is backed by ECI Partners) is intended to accelerate Ciphr’s payroll technology development and strengthen its payroll proposition for medium and large organisations.

ECI Partners Acquires CIPHR (LDC Exit)

CIPHR, headquartered in Reading and supporting c.300,000 employees across customers globally, will use the new partnership to accelerate product development, organic growth and M&A activity.

UKG Acquires Ascentis Corporation

UKG Inc. has acquired Ascentis Corporation, a full-suite HR and workforce management software provider headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The deal brings several hundred Ascentis employees (including staff in Montevideo, Uruguay) and roughly 4,800 customers into UKG, strengthening UKG's HCM, payroll and workforce management capabilities.

Avanade Acquires Altius

Avanade has acquired London-based Altius, a provider of data performance management and AI solutions on the Microsoft platform, to strengthen its data, AI and managed services capabilities. Altius, which has offices in the Netherlands and India and employs 300+ cloud and data specialists, was a portfolio company of MML Capital Partners, which exited its investment. Financial terms were not disclosed.
