Royal Philips Acquires Blue Willow Systems

Royal Philips has acquired Vancouver-based Blue Willow Systems, a developer of a cloud-based senior living resident safety platform that includes Bluetooth-enabled wearables, real-time location tracking and enterprise reporting. The acquisition augments Philips' CarePoint 6.0 senior living platform by adding SaaS-based resident and staff management capabilities; financial terms were not disclosed.

Databricks Acquires Lilac to Strengthen Data Quality for Generative AI

Databricks has acquired Boston-based Lilac, an applied research startup that builds tools to explore, cluster and curate unstructured text datasets for generative AI workflows. Lilac's team and technology will be integrated into Databricks' Mosaic AI and data intelligence platform to improve dataset quality, monitoring, and preparation for RAG, fine-tuning and pre-training of LLMs; terms were not disclosed.

Bluewave Technology Group Acquires J.I.L. Communications

Bluewave Technology Group has acquired J.I.L. Communications, Inc., a Louisville-based telecommunications advisory and management firm; financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition—Bluewave's fourth this year—adds JIL's network, hybrid cloud and contact-center advisory capabilities and more than 350 active customers (notably in healthcare and manufacturing), strengthening Bluewave's technical capability and presence in Kentucky.

Canva Acquires Leonardo.ai to Bolster Generative AI Capabilities

Canva has acquired Sydney-based generative AI startup Leonardo.ai in a cash-and-stock deal, with all ~120 Leonardo.ai employees joining Canva.
