Advent International and Multiples Private Equity will invest $230 million in Ananya Birla's Svatantra Microfin Pvt. Ltd., marking the largest PE investment in India's microfinance sector. The transaction (subject to regulatory approvals) will support the combined Svatantra–Chaitanya entity — which serves over 4.2 million customers and employs more than 17,000 people — to expand products, technology and analytics while the promoter group will remain a significant majority shareholder.
