Octo (backed by Arlington Capital) Combines with Sevatec

Arlington Capital Partners announced a strategic combination of its portfolio company Octo with Fairfax-based Sevatec to create a larger federal IT modernization and mission-software provider. The combined firm will operate under Octo leadership, generate nearly $300 million of revenue and employ approximately 1,100 people to serve defense, intelligence, federal health and civilian customers.

Octo Acquires B3 Group

Octo, a Reston-based IT modernization firm, acquired Herndon-based B3 Group to expand its federal health footprint and augment its low-code/no-code, data, and cloud modernization capabilities. The deal brings B3's ~350 employees, marquee VA programs (including the $686M Digital Transformation Center contract), and digital transformation lab into Octo's offerings to better serve VA, HHS, DHA and other federal customers.

Octo Acquires Volant Associates

Octo, a Reston, Virginia-based IT modernization firm serving the U.S. federal government, has acquired Volant Associates, a Chantilly, Virginia technology integrator and software development company focused on Defense ISR and Intelligence Community missions. The acquisition adds more than 85 highly cleared technical employees and integrates Volant's leadership as a new division within Octo's IC and Air Force Business Unit to expand Octo's capabilities and customer reach across DoD and intelligence customers.

Arlington Capital Partners Recapitalizes Octo Consulting Group

IBM Acquires Apptio Inc.

IBM has acquired Apptio Inc. from Vista Equity Partners for $4.6 billion, adding Apptio's FinOps and cloud cost-management SaaS capabilities to IBM's IT automation and watsonx AI portfolio. The deal is intended to create a 360-degree technology business management platform, drive synergies across IBM's automation, Red Hat and consulting businesses, and augment IBM's AI/data capabilities with Apptio's anonymized IT spend data.

NVIDIA Acquires OctoAI

NVIDIA has acquired Seattle-based OctoAI, a startup that provides tooling and infrastructure to build and run generative AI models. The deal — reported at roughly $165 million before adjustments and with potential incentives that could push consideration higher — brings OctoAI's ML compiler and model-serving technology and team into NVIDIA to bolster its AI infrastructure offerings.
