BioMarin Acquires Alesta Therapeutics

BioMarin agreed to acquire Alesta Therapeutics for $275 million upfront, plus up to $215 million in development and regulatory milestone payments, to obtain its lead clinical-stage asset, ALE1. The acquisition closed on September 1, 2026; Alesta had spun out its non-ALE1 assets before closing, and became a wholly owned BioMarin subsidiary.
