OnLine Transport Inc. Acquires A/T Transportation and Automated Logistics, Inc.

OnLine Transport Inc., a national asset-based carrier headquartered in Greenfield, Indiana, acquired A/T Transportation and Automated Logistics, Inc. of Ferdinand, Indiana, effective August 11, 2023. The deal is an add-on to OnLine’s expanding platform—its sixth acquisition since 2019—adding truckload capacity, warehousing and brokerage capabilities and new shipper relationships.

Cox Transportation Services Acquires Outwest Express

Cox Transportation Services has acquired Outwest Express, a Texas-based truckload carrier specializing in Mexican cross-border logistics, adding more than 400 tractors and 1,200 trailers to Cox's network. The deal was completed alongside a majority recapitalization of Cox led by Expedition Capital Partners and Prudential Private Capital to support continued platform growth.

BWT Logistics Acquires International Express Trucking

BWT Logistics, a Bluejay Capital portfolio company, has acquired International Express Trucking (IET), a regional 3PL in North Carolina. The add-on expands BWT’s contract logistics and warehousing footprint in the state; IET’s president Howard Shope will join BWT as Senior Vice President of Operations and retain a meaningful ownership stake. Bluejay Capital financed the transaction with participation from Argosy Private Equity, Southfield Mezzanine, Spring Capital Partners and KeyBank; terms were not disclosed.

Heartland Express Acquires Smith Transport, Inc.

Heartland Express, Inc. (NASDAQ: HTLD) acquired 100% of the equity of Smith Transport, Inc. and related companies for an aggregate enterprise value of approximately $170 million. Smith Transport — an asset-based dry van truckload carrier headquartered in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania with ~850 company tractors — will continue to operate under its existing leadership and brand while leveraging Heartland's scale for purchasing and cost synergies.

Extra Mile Brands Acquires Mustangs Unlimited

CID Capital portfolio company Extra Mile Brands has acquired the assets of Mustangs Unlimited, a Mustang parts distributor founded in 1976 by Chris Hoverman. Mustangs Unlimited's operations have been relocated to Reedsville, Pennsylvania, and Extra Mile Brands said it will continue the company's product quality and service while integrating the business into its aftermarket parts platform.

Wellington Group of Companies Acquires Contract Express

Canada-based Wellington Group of Companies has acquired Contract Express, expanding Wellington's brokerage, truckload and LTL services across the U.S. and Canada. Terms were not disclosed; Wellington said it will preserve Contract Express's brand and operations while adding buying power and support from the larger group.
