PowerSchool has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Kickboard, a provider of K-12 behavior management and social-emotional learning (SEL) software, to integrate Kickboard’s capabilities into PowerSchool’s Unified Classroom. The acquisition is intended to give educators a more comprehensive view of student behavior and wellbeing by combining behavior management, SIS, LMS, and analytics; Kickboard and PowerSchool will continue to operate separately until the transaction closes.

Edlio Acquires eChalk

Bain Capital Acquires PowerSchool

Bain Capital has completed the acquisition of PowerSchool Holdings, a Folsom, California-based provider of cloud-based K-12 education software, for $22.80 per share in cash, valuing the company at approximately $5.6 billion. Vista Equity Partners and Onex Partners retain minority stakes; the deal takes PowerSchool private to accelerate product innovation (including its PowerBuddy generative AI platform) and expand its global reach.

PowerSchool Acquires Allovue

PowerSchool (NYSE: PWSC) has acquired Allovue, a K-12 financial planning, budgeting, and analytics software provider, to expand PowerSchool’s financial management and data & analytics capabilities for K-12 customers. The acquisition integrates Allovue’s budgeting and analytics tools into PowerSchool’s product suite to provide schools and districts improved budget transparency and planning (reports indicate an approximate purchase price of $38.2 million).

The acquisition will integrate Kinvolved's messaging and attendance capabilities into PowerSchool's Unified Home solution to strengthen school-to-home communications and support efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism.

Volaris Group Acquires SoftChalk

Volaris Group has acquired SoftChalk LLC, an educational content authoring software provider based in Richmond, Virginia. SoftChalk will be integrated into AssetWorks (a Volaris subsidiary) to support product growth and expand Volaris' portfolio of higher-education software solutions.
