Legacy Brands International, an investment group managed by multi-unit Friendly's franchisee Amol Kohli, has acquired BRIX Holdings, the Dallas-based multi-brand franchising company that owns Friendly's, Clean Juice, Orange Leaf, Red Mango, Smoothie Factory + Kitchen, Souper Salad and Humble Donut Co. BRIX will remain headquartered in Dallas under CEO Sherif Mityas, with Kohli serving as Chairman and a focus on organic growth, geographic expansion (including targeted growth in Georgia, the Carolinas and Texas) and pursuing additional brand acquisitions.

Frazil Acquires Trident Beverage

Frazil, the leading U.S. slush brand, has acquired Trident Beverage, maker of the Juice Alive 100% juice slush for K-12 schools. The acquisition expands Frazil’s presence in the K-12 channel and combines Trident’s school-focused product line with Frazil’s broader frozen-beverage platform and distribution.

General Atlantic Acquires Majority Stake in Joe & the Juice

General Atlantic has agreed to acquire a majority interest in Joe & the Juice from Valedo Partners, which will fully exit its investment. The investment will support Joe & the Juice's international expansion (notably in the U.S., UK, Europe, Middle East and beyond), accelerate digital and franchise channels, and reduce debt to enable an unlevered store rollout.

Nexus Capital Acquires Smucker's Natural Beverage and Grains Businesses (R.W. Knudsen, TruRoots)

The J.M. Smucker Co. completed the sale of its natural and organic beverage and grains businesses — including the R.W. Knudsen and TruRoots assets and trademarks plus a licensing agreement for Santa Cruz Organic beverages — to Nexus Capital Management LP for $110 million in cash (subject to working capital adjustments). The transaction includes manufacturing and distribution facilities in Chico, California and Havre de Grace, Maryland, and Nexus plans to operate the acquired brands as an independent consumer platform led by Bobby Chacko as chairman and CEO.

BRANDED Group Acquires Puracy

The deal pairs Puracy's natural-product portfolio and founder team with BRANDED's e-commerce infrastructure and resources to accelerate brand growth and global expansion.

Edlong Corp. Acquires Brisan Group

Edlong Corp., a dairy and dairy-free flavor manufacturer, has acquired Brisan Group, a Chicago-based market research and product development consultancy focused on dairy and sweet flavors. Brisan's CEO Brian Vogt will join Edlong as vice president for business development for the company's U.S. and Canada units; terms were not disclosed and the deal is expected to close Nov. 4.
