Serverfarm and NantWorks Acquire LAX1 Data Center in El Segundo

Serverfarm, together with long-term partner NantWorks, acquired the 117,500 sq. ft. LAX1 data center in El Segundo, California (previously operated by T5). The acquisition expands Serverfarm’s owned and managed portfolio in the Los Angeles market and enables modernization and sustainability upgrades using its InCommand DMaaS platform to serve hyperscale, healthcare, government and media tenants.

Tonaquint acquired the former EdgeX data center facility in Oklahoma City in late 2023 and is upgrading the site from a single-client environment to a multi-tenant, initially deploying 2.5 MW of critical IT load with expansion capability up to 12 MW. The St. George, Utah–based data center operator (PE-backed by DIF Capital Partners) is refreshing infrastructure and customer spaces to target high-density and AI workloads and begin taking orders for capacity in April 2024.

Hypertec Cloud has acquired 5C Data Centers and spun Hypertec Cloud out of Hypertec Group to create 5C Group, a combined AI digital infrastructure provider. The deal integrates Hypertec Cloud's high-performance AI compute capabilities with 5C Data Centers' U.S. campus footprint to accelerate AI deployments, improve speed-to-deployment, and optimize performance and cost for large AI and enterprise customers.

UPSTACK has acquired DataCenterAndColocation.com, a consulting firm that advises midmarket and enterprise customers on data center and colocation solutions; terms were not disclosed. As part of the deal, CEO John Giaquinta joins UPSTACK as a Partner and Managing Director and becomes an equity stakeholder. The acquisition supports UPSTACK's strategy to expand its advisor network and capabilities as it scales following a $50 million equity investment from Berkshire Partners.

Zenith Energy U.S., L.P. completed the acquisition of three interconnected terminals in greater Los Angeles (Long Beach, Dominguez Hills and Alamitos) from Plains All American Pipeline. The assets include an aggregate storage capacity of 8.2 million barrels and ~50 miles of bi-directional pipeline, giving Zenith a strategic foothold in the Los Angeles market to serve refineries, biorefineries and marine docks.
