Central Garden & Pet (NASDAQ: CENT) agreed to acquire Green Garden Products, a leading North American supplier of seed packets and seed-starting products, for $532 million. The deal (expected to close in Q1 2021) expands Central’s garden product portfolio and strengthens its retail footprint and digital/merchandising capabilities; Green Garden had previously been partnered with Freeman Spogli & Co.

The deal brings Champion USA's St. Joseph, Missouri manufacturing and employees into Central's Professional business unit to expand its sustainable livestock fly-control offerings and nationwide distribution.

Central Garden & Pet Acquires Leading Edge Associates / Leading Edge Aero Technologies

Central Garden & Pet completed the acquisition of Leading Edge Associates, Inc. and Leading Edge Aero Technologies, Inc., two Daytona Beach–based developers and manufacturers of large commercial drones and supporting software; the deal closed on November 6, 2024. The purchase brings drone hardware and precision-application software capabilities into Central’s pet and garden portfolio to support mosquito/vector control, weed control and precision farming solutions.

Central Garden & Pet Acquires Hopewell Nursery

Central Garden & Pet has entered into an agreement to acquire Hopewell Nursery, a live goods grower headquartered in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The acquisition expands Central's live goods business and scale in the Northeast; Hopewell operates over 1,800 acres, employs approximately 500 people, and the deal is expected to close December 31, 2020 (terms undisclosed).

Dan Dee International Acquires Animal Adventure from Spell Capital

Dan Dee International, a portfolio company of IVEST Consumer Partners, has acquired Animal Adventure, LLC, a plush and soft-goods manufacturer that was a portfolio company of Spell Capital Partners. The deal closed in Q1 2020; Animal Adventure will operate as a separate brand with founder Peter Gainsley serving as President. D.A. Davidson & Co. served as exclusive financial advisor to Animal Adventure on the transaction.
