UK private equity firm LDC has invested in Sohonet, a London‑based provider of connectivity, collaboration software, media services and network security for the media & entertainment industry. Hybrid, which serves higher education institutions and global technology brands and employs more than 70 people across offices in Bristol, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney, will retain its management team while founder James Craven remains as a Board Director.

The investment will fund expansion of Phoenix Datacom’s hardware, software and services offerings, support growth (the company reported revenue of more than £20m for FY ending March 2020) and enable the team to pursue complementary acquisitions.

Onecom, headquartered in Fareham, Hampshire, serves nearly 100,000 business customers across fixed-line voice, connectivity and cloud services and employs around 400 people; the funding will be used to scale the team, upgrade systems and pursue acquisitions.
