IBM Acquires Apptio Inc.

IBM has acquired Apptio Inc. from Vista Equity Partners for $4.6 billion, adding Apptio's FinOps and cloud cost-management SaaS capabilities to IBM's IT automation and watsonx AI portfolio. The deal is intended to create a 360-degree technology business management platform, drive synergies across IBM's automation, Red Hat and consulting businesses, and augment IBM's AI/data capabilities with Apptio's anonymized IT spend data.

Apptio, Inc. has acquired SaaSLicense, a SaaS discovery, optimization, and management product, to extend its technology business management and cloud financial management capabilities. The acquisition adds SaaSLicense's automatic SaaS usage and spending detection to Apptio's existing Cloudability and broader portfolio to help customers manage SaaS spend and compliance.

Apptio, a Bellevue-based technology business management software company, completed the acquisition of Cloudability, a Portland-based leader in multi-cloud financial management, on May 31, 2019. The deal adds Cloudability’s FinOps capabilities — which manage more than $9 billion in enterprise cloud spend and serve 250+ enterprise customers — to Apptio’s portfolio to deliver an integrated, cloud-agnostic cost and financial-management solution.

Appfire Acquires SoftwarePlant

Appfire has acquired SoftwarePlant, the developer of BigPicture, a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool that integrates with Jira. As part of the transaction, SoftwarePlant founders Tomasz Kucharski and Michal Niwinski and approximately 165 team members joined Appfire, expanding Appfire's product portfolio and PPM capabilities.

TD SYNNEX Acquires Apptium

TD SYNNEX has acquired Apptium, a Reston, Virginia-based developer of a cloud commerce platform, making Apptium a wholly owned subsidiary to accelerate development of TD SYNNEX’s StreamOne platform and broaden its cloud and Everything-as-a-Service offerings. Apptium’s billing, subscription management and marketplace capabilities will be integrated to help TD SYNNEX partners accelerate time-to-revenue and manage multi-cloud and subscription/consumption-based services.

Planview Acquires Tasktop

Planview has acquired Tasktop, a Vancouver-based leader in Value Stream Management, bringing Tasktop's team and technology into Planview to expand its Strategic Portfolio Management and enterprise agile planning capabilities. Tasktop's investors (including Sumeru Equity Partners, Elsewhere Partners and Yaletown Partners) and management rolled part of their equity and will retain a minority stake alongside Planview's majority shareholders TPG and TA Associates; terms were not disclosed.
