QED Technologies Acquires Dutch United Instruments (Nanomefos)

QED Technologies International has acquired Dutch United Instruments (DUI), the developer of the Nanomefos metrology platform, from Demcon. The deal adds non-contact, nanometer-accurate metrology for freeform and aspheric optics to QED's portfolio, establishes a European HQ in the Netherlands, and expands QED's capabilities across semiconductor, aerospace, defense and research markets.

Bruker Corporation has acquired Nion, a Kirkland, Washington developer and manufacturer of high-end scanning transmission electron microscopes (STEM), including the UltraSTEM line and advanced EELS technology. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Teledyne Technologies has agreed to acquire select aerospace and defense electronics businesses from Excelitas Technologies for approximately $710 million in cash, including the UK-based Optical Systems business (branded Qioptiq) and the U.S.-based Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) business. The businesses will be folded into Teledyne's Aerospace and Defense Electronics segment (operating under the name Teledyne Qioptiq for the optical business) to expand Teledyne's capabilities in optics, tactical night-vision, defense electronics and space applications.
