Quad-C Management agreed to acquire QED Technologies International, Inc. from Entegris in a definitive agreement announced January 20, 2023. The deal is a carve-out of Entegris' QED business and will return QED to standalone ownership under Quad-C to support growth in precision optics, metrology, and contract optics manufacturing.

AMETEK Acquires United Electronic Industries

AMETEK, Inc. has acquired United Electronic Industries (UEI), a Norwood, Massachusetts–based designer and manufacturer of data acquisition, test, measurement and control solutions. UEI will join AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group to expand the company's capabilities in data acquisition and testing across aerospace, defense, energy and semiconductor end markets.

Shoei Chemical Acquires Quantum Dot Business from Nanosys

Shoei Chemical, together with its North American subsidiary Shoei Electronic Materials, completed an asset purchase agreement to acquire substantially all assets of Nanosys' quantum dot business, including its sales and marketing teams, R&D team, and Silicon Valley laboratories. The deal brings Nanosys' quantum dot technology and IP under Shoei to strengthen Shoei's advanced materials and display-materials capabilities while retaining the Nanosys brand and operations in the U.S.

Bruker Corporation Acquires Nion

Bruker Corporation has acquired Nion, a Kirkland, Washington developer and manufacturer of high-end scanning transmission electron microscopes (STEM), including the UltraSTEM line and advanced EELS technology. The acquisition strengthens Bruker's materials science instrumentation portfolio and provides capabilities for electron diffraction crystallography; Nion reported approximately $8 million in revenue in 2023. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Delta Electronics Acquires Universal Instruments Corporation

Delta Electronics, through its subsidiary Delta International Holding Limited B.V., agreed to acquire UI Acquisition Holding Co., the owner of Universal Instruments Corporation, for approximately US$88.9 million. The acquisition brings Universal's precision automation solutions and R&D to Delta to strengthen its smart manufacturing capabilities for the electronics industry; Universal will continue to operate under its existing management.

Teledyne Acquires Select Aerospace and Defense Electronics Businesses of Excelitas for $710M

Teledyne Technologies has agreed to acquire select aerospace and defense electronics businesses from Excelitas Technologies for approximately $710 million in cash, including the UK-based Optical Systems business (branded Qioptiq) and the U.S.-based Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) business. The businesses will be folded into Teledyne's Aerospace and Defense Electronics segment (operating under the name Teledyne Qioptiq for the optical business) to expand Teledyne's capabilities in optics, tactical night-vision, defense electronics and space applications.
