Alleghany Capital Forms Piedmont Manufacturing to Acquire Wilbert Plastic Services

Alleghany Capital Corporation formed a new wholly-owned subsidiary, Piedmont Manufacturing Group, LLC, to acquire Wilbert, Inc. (dba Wilbert Plastic Services), a U.S. injection-molded and thermoformed parts manufacturer. The acquisition brings Wilbert's four facilities and over 600 employees into Alleghany Capital's industrial platform as it looks to build Piedmont Manufacturing into a platform for value-added plastics and contract manufacturing.

SHL Medical Acquires Superior Tooling Inc.

SHL Medical, a Swiss developer and manufacturer of advanced drug-delivery systems, has acquired Superior Tooling Inc., a Wake Forest, North Carolina-based manufacturer of plastic injection molds and tooling. The acquisition strengthens SHL's in‑house tooling and vertical manufacturing capabilities ahead of the opening of a new US manufacturing site in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is intended to support global tooling needs with a particular focus on medical device applications.

NewCo Plastics Acquires Majority Stake in Hilco Technologies

NewCo Plastics, a holding company formed by White Wolf Capital, has acquired a majority stake in Hilco Technologies, a Grand Rapids-based plastics manufacturer. Hilco provides thermoplastic and gas-assist injection molding, abrasion-resistant hard-coating, and rapid prototyping services to medical, automotive and other industrial end markets; financial terms were not disclosed.

Seaway Plastics Engineering Acquires MME Group

Seaway Plastics Engineering, a PE-backed injection-molded components manufacturer, has acquired MME Group, a St. Paul-based contract manufacturer specializing in injection molding, tooling and assembly for FDA-regulated medical and other highly engineered products. The deal, finalized September 30, 2022, expands Seaway's geographic footprint and capabilities and advances its growth strategy under its sponsor, ICG's North American Direct Private Equity team.

Trelleborg Group Acquires Aero-Plastics Inc.

Trelleborg Group, through its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area, has signed an agreement to acquire Aero-Plastics Inc., a Renton, Washington-based manufacturer of precision injection-molded and thermoformed high-performance polymer components for the aerospace interiors market. The acquisition — expected to close in Q2 2025 — expands Trelleborg's thermoplastics and interiors capabilities, adds capacity and customer relationships, and is intended to generate sales synergies within its aerospace offering.

SyBridge Technologies (Crestview) Acquires X-Cell Tool and Mold, Inc.

SyBridge Technologies, a platform created and backed by Crestview Partners, has completed the acquisition of X-Cell Tool and Mold, Inc., a Fairview, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of close-tolerance and multi-cavity plastic injection molds. The deal expands SyBridge's tooling capabilities into complex medical tooling and supplements its mobility market presence through its Concours Technologies subsidiary.
