Medtronic plc acquired SonarMed, a Purdue‑bred developer of the SonarMed airway monitoring system, in December 2020. The acquisition adds continuous acoustic airway monitoring technology for neonatal and pediatric ventilation to Medtronic's respiratory/medical surgical portfolio to help detect endotracheal tube obstruction and position in real time.
