Hologic Acquires Gynesonics

Hologic has completed the acquisition of Gynesonics for approximately $350 million. Other investors included Alpha JWC Ventures, Alpha Wave Ventures and Johnson & Johnson’s JJDC; proceeds will be used to accelerate clinical programs and expand the company’s indications and commercial rollout (CEO Mike Blue will become chairman).

Samsung Medison Acquires French Ultrasound AI Firm Sonio

Samsung Medison (part of Samsung) has completed a $92.4 million acquisition of Paris-based ultrasound AI company Sonio, acquiring 100% of the firm's shares after approval from the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance. Sonio — founded in 2020 and maker of FDA-cleared Sonio Detect for real-time fetal ultrasound guidance — will continue developing cross-vendor products while its AI capabilities are integrated into Samsung’s ultrasound roadmap.

Hologic Acquires Endomag for $310M

Hologic, Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Endomagnetics Ltd (Endomag), a Cambridge, U.K.-based developer of breast surgery localization and lymphatic tracing technologies, for approximately $310 million. Endomag generated about $35 million in revenue in 2023; the deal is expected to be slightly dilutive to Hologic's non-GAAP EPS in fiscal 2024, break even in 2025 and be accretive thereafter, and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
