Resource Innovations Acquires Shifted Energy

Resource Innovations (RI), a San Francisco–based utility software and consulting platform, has acquired Honolulu-based Shifted Energy to integrate its Grid Maestro DERMS technology into RI’s demand-side management (DSM) and grid-edge offerings. The deal expands RI’s capability to deliver end-to-end virtual power plant and flexible load management solutions at scale, with a focus on equitable access for renters and underserved communities.

The add-on expands RI’s capabilities and team (bringing the combined organization to over 1,100 professionals) to better serve utility, government, and corporate clients with enhanced solutions in energy storage, resiliency, water conservation, community engagement, and workforce development.

Ember Infrastructure Invests in Advanced Recycling Technologies

Funds managed by Ember Infrastructure have made a growth investment in Advanced Recycling Technologies Holdings, LLC (ART) to scale ART’s distributed metals recovery and recycling platform. The capital will support expansion of ART’s fleet of onsite metals recovery systems—already operating in the Mid-Atlantic, Michigan, and Massachusetts—and accelerate commercialization with upstream waste and WTE partners.

Resource Innovations, a San Francisco Bay Area–headquartered tech-enabled services firm serving utilities, government and corporate clients on energy efficiency and decarbonization, will continue to be led by founder and CEO Lauren Casentini, who remains a significant equity holder; MSCP plans to support continued organic growth and M&A to expand the business.
