NortonLifeLock Acquires Avira from Investcorp for $360 Million

NortonLifeLock agreed to acquire Germany-headquartered cybersecurity software provider Avira from Investcorp for approximately $360 million in an all-cash deal announced in December 2020. The transaction, expected to close in Q1 2021 subject to regulatory approvals, strengthens NortonLifeLock’s consumer cyber-safety portfolio and builds a larger European footprint for the combined business.

Investcorp originally acquired SecureLink in 2015 and grew it via a buy-and-build strategy across Europe and China; Orange says the acquisition reinforces its cybersecurity operations in Europe and expands its managed security capabilities.
