Odyssey Investment Partners Acquires Applied Technical Services

Odyssey Investment Partners, through a fund it manages, has acquired Applied Technical Services (ATS), a Marietta, Georgia–based provider of testing, inspection, calibration and consulting engineering services. The deal was completed in partnership with ATS President Jim J. Hills and the existing management team, who will retain a significant ownership stake as Odyssey positions ATS as a platform for continued organic growth and strategic add-on acquisitions.

The deals strengthen ATS' Testing, Inspection and Certification & Compliance (TICC) service lines and expand its footprint in life sciences, food, medical and aerospace markets as part of continued roll-up activity (22 acquisitions since Odyssey's investment).

The acquisition adds API certifications, additional licensed Professional Engineers and mechanical integrity capabilities to ATS, and expands ATS's presence in the tire manufacturing, chemical, and pharmaceutical end markets; the new team will be led by Mark Ellis.

Technical Safety Services (a Technical Solutions Holdings company) has acquired East Coast Laboratory Services, LLC, a Sabillasville, Maryland provider of cleanroom and laboratory equipment testing, certification and calibration services. The deal expands TSS/TSH’s technician density and service footprint in the U.S. Northeast, broadening its laboratory testing and certification capabilities for biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device and academic research clients.
