Sagepoint Energy launched as a newly combined waste-to-energy platform by bringing together Dynamic Renewables, BC Organics and National Organics. The Carmel, Indiana–headquartered company is majority owned by Ares Management Infrastructure Opportunities funds with a minority investment from an unregulated affiliate of NorthWestern Energy, and will develop, own and operate anaerobic digestion/RNG, biorefinery and organics-collection capabilities across the U.S.

Green Rock Energy Partners Acquires South Hills RNG Facility

Green Rock Energy Partners LLC, a sustainable infrastructure–focused private equity firm, acquired PSA South Hills Landfill Gas Venture LLC (South Hills), a renewable natural gas production facility in South Park Township, Pennsylvania, with the transaction closing in Q4 2022. The facility upgrades landfill biogas into RNG for the vehicular transportation market and is expected to produce over one million gallons of renewable fuel per year; Venture Engineering & Construction will provide technical advisory and post-close O&M services.

Kinder Morgan Acquires North American Natural Resources

Kinder Morgan, Inc. has closed the $135 million acquisition of North American Natural Resources, Inc. and its sister companies North American Biofuels, LLC and North American-Central, LLC, acquiring seven landfill gas-to-power facilities in Michigan and Kentucky. Kinder Morgan will evaluate converting up to four sites to renewable natural gas (RNG) with approximately $175 million of capital spend, expanding its RNG generation capacity and diversifying its renewables portfolio.

Lignetics Acquires Great Lakes Renewable Energy

Lignetics, a portfolio company of Taglich Private Equity, acquired Great Lakes Renewable Energy (GLRE), a Hayward, Wisconsin-based wood pellet manufacturer, in a transaction that closed March 31, 2021. The deal adds GLRE's Lumber Jack Grilling Pellets brand and unique round-log 5.5mm pellet capacity to Lignetics' portfolio, expanding its grilling and consumer pellet offerings.

EverGen Infrastructure Acquires Fraser Valley Biogas

EverGen Infrastructure Corp., a Canadian renewable natural gas (RNG) infrastructure platform, has acquired Fraser Valley Biogas Ltd., the original producing RNG facility in Western Canada located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. EverGen plans to expand and optimize the facility—boosting production from over 80,000 gigajoules annually to more than 125,000 gigajoules—and integrate operations with its existing BC waste-to-energy projects to realize operational synergies.
