Engineering Services Acquisitions in Arizona

ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) has acquired Tucson-based Putt Land Surveying, Inc., expanding the company's Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) footprint in southern Arizona. The deal is ZenaTech's 11th U.S. acquisition for its DaaS business area and is intended to accelerate the company’s Phoenix and statewide DaaS operations and recurring-service capabilities.

Atwell has acquired the operations of Terrascape Consulting, a Phoenix-based engineering and surveying firm founded in 2006, to expand its capabilities and presence in the Southwestern United States. Terms were not disclosed; the move is Atwell’s sixth strategic addition in just over a year as it continues to grow its land development and surveying capabilities regionally.

Grace Hebert Curtis Architects (GHC), a Bernhard Capital Partners-backed AEC platform, has invested in Orcutt|Winslow, a full-service architecture, forensic consulting, and program management firm. The combined business will operate as GHC + Orcutt|Winslow, retain Orcutt|Winslow leadership, and expand GHC's capabilities and regional footprint across key U.S. markets; financial terms were not disclosed.

RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture has acquired Anderson Design to expand its landscape architecture, land planning, and parks/open-space design capabilities in the Southwest. Anderson Design will continue focusing on master-planned communities and mixed-use projects while integrating with RVi's team to strengthen delivery in Arizona and Texas; terms were not disclosed.

Exyte has completed the acquisition of CollabraTech Solutions, a Phoenix-based specialist in ultrahigh-purity distribution systems and contract manufacturing for semiconductor and high‑tech facilities. The deal (terms not disclosed) strengthens Exyte's Technology & Services business and advances its vertical integration strategy for mission‑critical equipment and installation services.

Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. (Nasdaq: BWMN) acquired Hess-Rountree, Inc., a Phoenix-based civil engineering and land surveying firm. The acquisition, financed with cash, seller notes and equity, expands Bowman’s Arizona footprint and adds Hess‑Rountree’s expertise in educational, athletic and renewable energy projects to Bowman’s national engineering platform.

Huitt-Zollars, an employee-owned full-service design firm headquartered in Dallas, acquired Phoenix-based Gavan & Barker, a civil engineering and landscape architecture practice, to expand its public works capabilities and footprint in the Phoenix market. The founders and their team will join Huitt-Zollars' Phoenix office, strengthening the firm's local presence and service offerings for municipal infrastructure, parks, and roadway projects.

Ardurra Group, Inc., a Miami-based engineering firm and portfolio company of RTC Partners, has acquired Shephard – Wesnitzer, Inc. (SWI), a public works/civil engineering firm with offices in Flagstaff, Prescott and Sedona, Arizona. The deal expands Ardurra's presence in northern Arizona and brings SWI's local public-works expertise into the Ardurra platform as an Ardurra Group company.

VERTEX (a Wind Point Partners portfolio company) acquired Scottsdale-based Fulcrum, LLC, a construction management consulting and owner's representation firm. The add-on strengthens VERTEX's construction consulting capabilities, expands geographic coverage across North America, and creates cross-selling opportunities within the VERTEX platform.

Universal Engineering Sciences (UES), a national engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Orlando, Florida, acquired Speedie and Associates, an Arizona-based geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing firm. The deal brings Speedie’s approximately 160 professional and technical staff across Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff into UES’s Western region as part of the company’s Westward expansion.

Ardurra Group, Inc., a portfolio company of RTC Partners, has acquired and merged with Woodson Engineering & Surveying, a public works/civil engineering firm based in Northern Arizona. The acquisition expands Ardurra's presence in Arizona, with Woodson continuing to operate from its Flagstaff and Winslow offices as Woodson, an Ardurra Group Company.

Mecanica Scientific Services Corporation (Mecanica) acquired Collision Engineering Associates Inc. (CEA) of Mesa, Arizona on February 16, 2022. The acquisition expands Mecanica's accident-reconstruction and heavy-truck event data recorder capabilities and extends its geographic footprint in the Western and Southwest United States.

Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. (Nasdaq: BWMN) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Perry Engineering LLC, a Tucson-based civil engineering and land surveying firm. The acquisition, expected to close February 2, 2022, will expand Bowman's Tucson operations and add approximately $1.5 million of annualized net service billing, and was financed with cash, seller financing, and stock.

RMA Group of Companies, a portfolio company of OceanSound Partners, has merged with Western Technologies, Inc. and Enviro-Drill, Inc. to form a larger provider of technology-enabled laboratory testing, inspection, and quality management services for critical infrastructure across the Western U.S. The combined business will employ more than 600 professionals across nearly 20 offices in five states, expand service capabilities and geographic reach, and pursue further acquisition-driven growth under RMA CEO Ed Lyon; terms were not disclosed.

Ardurra Group, Inc. has acquired and merged with Ritoch-Powell & Associates, Inc., a multi-disciplined civil engineering firm. RPA will operate as RPA, an Ardurra Group Company, from its offices in Arizona as part of Ardurra's strategy to expand its presence in Arizona and surrounding states; Ardurra is a portfolio company of RTC Partners.

Keystone Capital portfolio company CONSOR Engineers has acquired Structural Grace, an Arizona-based structural engineering firm specializing in bridge and transit projects. The acquisition expands CONSOR's presence in the Western United States (including Phoenix and Tucson) and adds structural design, construction management, inspection, and staking capabilities to support transportation projects. Terms were not disclosed.

Schoor DePalma has entered into an agreement to acquire CMX, a 280-person engineering and consulting firm based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The transaction is supported by Schoor DePalma's recapitalization partner, Trivest Partners, and CMX will continue to operate under its current name with founding principal Don Dillon joining Schoor DePalma's board.
