HVAC & Mechanical Acquisitions in Kentucky

Leap Partners has acquired Air Control Heating and Air Conditioning, a Lexington, Kentucky HVAC provider with more than 54 years in the Central Kentucky community. Current owner Herbie McGaughey will remain leading the business as Leap Partners continues to expand its Southeast home services platform.

Smart Care, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, acquired Mr. C Refrigeration, a Louisville-based commercial refrigeration and HVAC services firm; the transaction closed on June 18, 2025. The add-on expands Smart Care's commercial refrigeration capabilities in Kentucky and strengthens its ability to serve life sciences, food distribution, and other commercial customers as part of a broader national expansion strategy.

KSC Holdings, a Danville, Kentucky-based holding company focused on mechanical construction businesses, has acquired family-owned Stansbury Electric Co. of Louisville. The transaction, which closed November 8, 2024, was advised by Generational Group and expands KSC's holdings in plumbing, electrical, garage door and industrial supply services as it builds a regional mechanical services platform.

Kian Capital-backed Team Air Distributing has acquired Best Choice Supply, a family-owned HVAC wholesale distributor with locations in Lexington and Somerset, Kentucky. The add-on expands Team Air’s parts and supplies offering, adds custom metal fabrication capabilities and deepens the platform’s presence in Kentucky and nearby regions; the combined platform will have roughly 200 employees and 12 branch locations.

Flow Service Partners, a PE-backed commercial HVACR and plumbing platform, has acquired Dynamic Air Solutions, a Louisville-based commercial and industrial HVAC specialist. The add-on expands Flow's service capabilities and operational density in Kentucky and southern Indiana; financial terms were not disclosed.

Leap Partners, a Nashville-based home services roll-up, has acquired Hornback Plumbing of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The deal expands Leap Partners' footprint into Kentucky while Hornback's owners, Donnie and Kim Hornback, will continue to lead the business under the Leap Partners platform.

Southern HVAC Corporation (part of Southern Home Services) acquired Allen's Air Conditioning & Heating, expanding the buyer's residential HVAC footprint into the Elizabethtown/Hodgenville area of Kentucky. The acquisition adds a long‑standing local HVAC services business and extends Southern Home Services' multi‑state footprint in residential and light commercial HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services.

Heartland Home Services, a Midwestern technology-enabled provider of HVAC, plumbing and electrical home services, has acquired GreenBox Heating & Air, a residential HVAC provider based in Lexington, Kentucky. The acquisition strengthens Heartland's presence in central Kentucky and brings GreenBox access to Heartland’s technology and resources while GreenBox’s leadership and technicians remain in place.

HomeServe USA has acquired United Plumbing Company, a residential plumbing contractor based in Goshen (Louisville), Kentucky. United Plumbing, led by former owner Christopher Montgomery who will become General Manager, has nearly 40 employees and will help HomeServe expand its service footprint into the Louisville market and strengthen its local skilled-trades network.

OMERS Private Equity has acquired TurnPoint Services, a Louisville-based provider of HVAC, plumbing and electrical services, from Trivest Partners. The deal expands OMERS' U.S. private equity portfolio with a high-growth, multi-brand residential services platform; terms were not disclosed.
