HVAC & Mechanical Acquisitions in Michigan

Precision Door Tri-State, a portfolio company of Monogram Capital Partners, has acquired Foris Solutions, a multi-territory Precision Garage Door Service franchisee. The deal creates one of the largest and most diversified operators within the Precision Garage Door Service system and expands the platform’s geographic footprint across nine states; founder Steve Freitas remains a minority shareholder and will join the combined board.

Funded Ventures' Heating & Cooling Services platform has acquired Naugle Heating & Cooling, a long-standing HVAC service provider based in Tecumseh, Michigan. The deal is part of Funded Ventures' seed portfolio buildout to establish regionally focused operating platforms in essential-service sectors.

Vessco Water, a family of companies focused on water and wastewater treatment distribution, has acquired R.L. Deppmann Company, a Michigan- and Northern Ohio-focused manufacturer's representative specializing in commercial HVAC, plumbing, and water systems. The acquisition strengthens Vessco's regional network and adds R.L. Deppmann's product portfolio and engineering expertise; terms were not disclosed.

Impact Climate Technologies has acquired Central States HVAC Solutions, Inc. (including operating companies Fontanesi & Kann, Architectural Building Components and Bio-Grid) from Prospect Partners. Joe Fontanesi will continue to lead the businesses as President; the move expands Impact Climate Technologies' footprint into Michigan and brings additional engineering, distribution and recurring HVAC services into its platform.

Blue Point Capital Partners has recapitalized Pinnacle MEP Holdings, a Midwest-focused HVAC and plumbing (MEP) services platform headquartered in Michigan. The transaction is an exit for Firmament (with support from Aquila Equity Partners) and positions Pinnacle to accelerate growth and pursue additional add-on acquisitions across the region.

Sila Services, a home-services platform, has acquired Carter's Plumbing, a Southeast Michigan plumbing services provider founded in 2013. The deal expands Sila Services' footprint in Michigan and the Midwest and aims to invest in growth, technology and career opportunities for Carter's team.

Sila Services, a home services platform, has acquired Levine & Sons, a Southfield, Michigan-based residential HVAC and plumbing business, as part of its geographic expansion into Michigan. The deal brings Levine's long-tenured customer base and service team into Sila's platform and was completed in partnership with the Levine family.

Prospect Partners has invested alongside management in Fontanesi & Kann (including Architectural Building Components) and established Central States HVAC Solutions, a commercial HVAC distribution and services platform led by CEO Joe Fontanesi. SharpVue Capital provided a subordinated debt financing and equity co-investment while Byline Bank provided senior debt; Prospect and management plan to pursue add-on acquisitions to expand the platform's geographic footprint and capabilities.

Elevator Service LLC (ESI) acquired Van Duinen Elevator Co., an elevator maintenance, repair and modernization company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The deal, backed financially by Greenwich-based family office Carroll Capital, is ESI's third add-on in six months and is intended to increase market density and extend ESI's service footprint in West Michigan; Van Duinen's owner Larry Burns will join ESI's management team.

Heartland Home Services has acquired Air Master Heating and Air Conditioning, a Ferndale, Michigan-based HVAC service provider. The deal expands Heartland's presence and service density in the Detroit area; terms were not disclosed and the Air Master leadership team will remain in place.

Heartland Home Services acquired Williams Refrigeration & Heating, Inc., a Warren, Michigan-based residential and commercial HVAC services provider. The add-on acquisition (closed May 6, 2022) expands Heartland’s regional HVAC footprint and brings additional installation, service and repair capabilities into its multi-brand platform.

Munch's Supply, a Marcone company, has acquired T.A. Gentry Supply, Inc., including its three Michigan branches in Lansing, Kalamazoo and Holland, expanding Munch's footprint to 70 locations across 17 states and one Canadian province. The acquisition is intended to expand Munch's presence in the plumbing segment in Michigan and complement its existing HVAC distribution network.

An affiliate of The Resolute Fund IV (managed by The Jordan Company) acquired Heartland Home Services from North Branch Capital, with Cobepa taking a significant minority stake and North Branch remaining a minority investor. Carlyle's Global Credit platform led and structured the debt financing to support the transaction. The investment will provide Heartland with resources to drive operational efficiencies and pursue organic and inorganic growth across its Midwestern residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical and indoor air quality platform.

PowerVac of Michigan (PVM), together with Peninsula Capital Partners and management, has acquired Fire & Ice Mechanical, a Sterling Heights, Michigan-based full-service commercial and industrial heating and cooling contractor. The acquisition expands PVM's service capabilities and geographic presence in Southeast Michigan by adding F&I's emergency service, preventive maintenance and system upgrade offerings.

Riverside-backed CertaSite has acquired Field's Fire Protection, a Grand Rapids-based fire protection and life safety company. Field's assumed the CertaSite brand, founder Mike Field remains on staff, and 31 employees retained as CertaSite continues to roll up regional fire-protection businesses to expand its Midwest footprint.

CertaSite, a PE-backed commercial fire protection and life safety platform, has acquired Spears Fire & Safety, a family-owned fire protection business based in Ann Arbor and Jackson, Michigan. The deal expands CertaSite's Midwest footprint, retains Spears employees, and folds the business into CertaSite's platform to enable service expansion and career development for staff.
