HVAC & Mechanical Acquisitions in New York

Northwinds Services Group has acquired Suburban Services Group, a Burnt Hills, New York-based provider of HVAC, plumbing and generator services. The deal is an add-on acquisition to Northwinds' HVAC and plumbing services platform aimed at scaling local operations while preserving Suburban's leadership and customer-focused culture.

Altus Fire and Life Safety, a portfolio company of funds advised by Apax Partners LLP, has acquired Firetek Sprinkler Systems, a sprinkler installation, inspection and maintenance specialist serving the Albany, New York market. The add-on expands Altus's fire protection capabilities and regional footprint, with Firetek's owner Michael O'Connor joining the partnership.

Pool Service Partners (PSP), a Tamarix Capital-backed pool services platform, has acquired B&B Swimming Pool Service of Chestnut Ridge, New York. The add-on strengthens PSP's Northeast footprint and provides B&B access to PSP's operational resources and technology while keeping the existing team in place.

PremiStar has partnered with Trademark Mechanical, a commercial HVACR and controls contractor based in Elmsford, New York, marking PremiStar’s first expansion into the state and extending its national footprint into the New York City metro area. The deal brings Trademark’s team and customer relationships into the PremiStar platform to support growth in commercial/industrial, healthcare, education and property-management end markets.

NexCore, a commercial HVAC platform backed by Trinity Hunt Partners, has acquired Buffalo-based DWC Mechanical, Inc. DWC will continue to be led by its existing management team and will operate as part of NexCore's upstate New York platform to support regional growth and future add-on activity.

Bluehenge Capital Partners has made a strategic investment in M. Spiegel & Sons, the parent company of SOS Xtreme Comfort, to complete a family ownership transition and support future growth. The Spiegel family will remain involved in operations, with Jeffrey Spiegel as President and Meredith Spiegel as COO, while Bluehenge provides capital and strategic guidance.

Sila Services, a home-services platform, has acquired T-Mark Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, a Buffalo-based residential and commercial trades company founded in 1998. The deal expands Sila's footprint into Western New York and brings T-Mark's team and local operations into Sila's multi-brand platform.

Tom Barrow Co., an Ardian-backed HVAC platform based in Atlanta, acquired R.F. Peck Co., Inc., a manufacturers’ representative and HVAC distributor serving New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. R.F. Peck will continue to operate as an independent brand (now R.F. Peck HVAC, LLC) with long-time principals Terry Seery and Jim Browe remaining in leadership and investing in the business to support growth in the Northeast.

Northwinds Services Group has acquired Rebmann Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning, a long-standing HVAC and plumbing services provider in the Long Island, New York area. Rebmann will retain local leadership and employees while benefiting from Northwinds' platform support in sales, marketing, operations, finance and IT to drive growth and operational scale.

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning LLC acquired substantially all of the assets of Stan Gelber & Sons, Inc., a residential HVAC company based in Uniondale, New York, to expand its coverage in the state. The acquisition complements Service Experts’ existing New York centers and brings the company’s total U.S. locations to 88.

Tech24, backed by HCI Equity Partners, acquired TEK Express on October 7, 2022 as its fourteenth add-on acquisition. The deal expands Tech24's repair and maintenance footprint in the New York City market; financial terms were not disclosed.

Granite Comfort, a PE-backed residential HVAC and plumbing platform, has acquired Yost & Campbell Heating, Cooling & Generators, expanding Granite Comfort's footprint into the New York metropolitan area. Yost & Campbell's leadership (Tom and Kevin Monahan) will remain with the business as Granite Comfort introduces its EASE Comfort lease offering to accelerate growth.

HomeX Services Group has acquired Universe Home Services, a family-owned HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services provider based in Seaford, New York. The add-on expands HomeX's service footprint into Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island and brings Universe's ~115 employees into HomeX's platform of regional home-services companies.

The Arcticom Group, a Walnut Creek, California-based HVACR platform backed by A&M Capital Partners, has acquired Tomco Mechanical Corporation, a Westbury, New York provider of commercial refrigeration and HVAC services. The acquisition expands Arcticom's footprint to the East Coast and strengthens its service offering to national and regional grocery and commercial customers, with Tomco's management (led by John Martinelli) remaining in leadership and retaining a meaningful ownership stake.

HomeServe USA has acquired Taylor Heating, Inc., a Rochester, New York-based HVAC and plumbing services company founded in 1947. Taylor Heating's 36 employees will join HomeServe as the co-owners transition roles, with the acquisition intended to expand HomeServe's local residential HVAC/plumbing service footprint.

Strikepoint Group Holdings (SGH) has acquired EB Design Air, a Hillburn, New York-based residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical services provider. The deal is SGH's third acquisition in 2021 and expands its regional home‑services footprint across parts of New York and northern New Jersey.

Champion Elevator has acquired New York-based Westech Elevator, a provider of elevator service, repair, modernization and inspections. The deal — which brings Westech’s ~40 employees and 775 units under Champion’s footprint — supports Champion’s New York geographic expansion and strengthens its service capabilities for building owners and facility managers.

Astar Heating & Air, a Dubin Clark portfolio company, has acquired the residential HVAC, plumbing and related assets of Petcosky & Sons Plumbing, Heating & A/C, Inc., carving out the residential business while the Petcosky family retains the commercial operations. The deal expands Astar's residential footprint in Broome County and surrounding areas of New York, furthering its strategy as a regional consolidator of home services businesses.

Capitala Group has closed a credit investment in Chief Fire Prevention & Mechanical Corp, a Mount Vernon, New York-based provider of commercial kitchen exhaust and pre-engineered fire suppression system services. The investment was made in partnership with Trinity Private Equity Group to support Chief Fire's management team and enable continued market-share growth organically and through acquisitions.

Aterian Investment Partners, a New York-based private investment firm, has entered into a strategic partnership with PJ Mechanical, a leading full-service mechanical contractor based in New York City. The investment will support PJ Mechanical's next phase of growth while preserving the company's family-led culture and continuing to serve large commercial, healthcare and infrastructure clients across the NYC market.

Dubin Clark & Company, Inc. acquired Astar Heating & Air, LLC, a regional provider of HVAC replacement, maintenance and plumbing services serving more than 20,000 residential homeowners in New York’s lower Hudson Valley. Midwest Mezzanine provided subordinated debt and equity to support the transaction.

Aterian Investment Partners has entered into a strategic partnership with The Pace Companies, a Brooklyn-based plumbing, HVAC/mechanical and fire protection contractor. The transaction will provide Pace with capital and operational support to pursue growth initiatives while preserving the company's leadership and culture.
