Insurance Acquisitions in Vermont

ALKEME, a Top 40 insurance brokerage based in Ladera Ranch, California, has acquired North Point Insurance Agency, a family-owned agency with offices in New York, Vermont and Maine. The acquisition expands ALKEME’s Northeast footprint and adds North Point’s specialty expertise in property & casualty and personal insurance, including a strong presence in the maple sugaring industry.

HUB International Limited has acquired The Essex Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency based in Essex Junction, Vermont. The acquisition expands HUB's commercial and personal insurance capabilities in Vermont and strengthens its specialty practices by adding The Essex Agency's team to HUB International New England.

One80 Intermediaries, a Boston-based specialty insurance broker, has acquired Manchester Specialty Programs, a national insurance underwriting and program management firm focused on home care, medical staffing, allied health, and human/social services. The acquisition expands One80’s allied health insurance capabilities and integrates Manchester Specialty’s underwriting, product development, and marketing team into One80’s platform; terms were not disclosed.

Field Pros Direct (FPD Solutions), a tech-enabled claims service provider, has acquired Dineley Claims Services to expand its claims capabilities and presence in the U.S. Northeast. The deal combines Field Pros Direct's technology platform with Dineley's 20+ years of complex property and commercial claims adjusting expertise to broaden coverage for insurance carriers and MGAs, including CAT and daily claims services.

The Hilb Group has acquired Vermont-based Paige & Campbell, Inc. and its subsidiary the Taylor Palmer Agency, expanding Hilb's New England presence and client offerings. Paige & Campbell — headquartered in Barre with additional offices in Bristol, Bradford and Waitsfield — will join Hilb's New England regional operations; Hilb Group is a Carlyle-backed insurance brokerage platform focused on growth through strategic acquisitions.

OneDigital has acquired Kinney Pike Insurance, a Rutland, Vermont-based independent insurance agency with six locations across Vermont that serves more than 13,000 customers. The acquisition brings 65 Kinney Pike employees into OneDigital and represents OneDigital’s first property & casualty office in the Northeast, expanding its P&C capabilities and New England risk management platform.

NFP, a national insurance broker and consultant, acquired Hackett Valine & MacDonald, Inc. (HVM), a South Burlington, Vermont brokerage specializing in property & casualty and employee benefits; the transaction closed on May 1, 2015. HVM's leadership team remains in place and will integrate with NFP Property & Casualty to expand NFP's presence and capabilities in the New England region.
