Packaging Acquisitions in New York

Novvia Group, a Kelso & Company–backed packaging platform, has acquired Garrett Hewitt International (GHI), a Fishkill, New York–based supplier of plastic and glass containers for the beauty and fragrance markets. The add-on expands Novvia's consumer packaging distribution capabilities and complements prior 2025 consumer-focused transactions including Saxco and MegaChem; financial terms were not disclosed.

Veritiv Operating Company has acquired Arjay Company, including substantially all assets of PPE Sales, LLC, expanding Veritiv’s packaging distribution footprint into Long Island and the Greater Metropolitan New York area. The acquisition strengthens Veritiv’s geographic reach and complements its national packaging, JanSan, print and logistics platform.

Nordic Cold Chain Solutions has acquired Minus Works Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of sustainable cold-chain gel packs and proprietary freezing technology. Nordic will assume control of Minus Works' Long Island facility, build a new manufacturing site in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and expand operations in Reno, Nevada to scale the company's eco-friendly cold-chain solutions nationwide.

Resource Label Group (RLG), a portfolio company of Ares Management Corporation, has acquired Beyer Graphics of Commack, New York. Beyer Graphics will join RLG Healthcare, strengthening RLG's pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetic folding-carton and packaging capabilities as the third addition to the RLG Healthcare platform.

Imperial Dade, a North American distributor of foodservice packaging, industrial products, and janitorial supplies, has acquired 3G Packaging, Inc., a regional industrial packaging distributor with locations in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse, New York. The acquisition expands Imperial Dade's presence in upstate New York and brings 3G's local customer relationships and product offerings onto Imperial Dade's broader platform; financial terms were not disclosed.

Anderson & Vreeland, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of flexographic print technologies, has acquired Adheso-Graphics, a maker of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes serving corrugated, wide web, narrow web, offset and letterpress printing markets. The acquisition expands Anderson & Vreeland's vertical manufacturing and product portfolio for flexographic printing consumables and strengthens its offerings across multiple printing and packaging end markets.

Arcade Beauty has acquired ORLANDI's TruEssence product line, including laboratory and slurry production equipment and related intellectual property, as ORLANDI exits the scented strips category. Arcade Beauty also entered a strategic lease for a Chattanooga, Tennessee facility to consolidate laboratory and slurry production; ORLANDI will focus on other sampling technologies and scented retail products.

Iconex has acquired the Point-of-Sale Rolls division from Graphic Controls Transactional Media (a subsidiary of Nissha Co. Ltd.), purchasing the division's equipment and customer base. No employees were included in the transaction; equipment will be moved to Iconex's Morristown, Tennessee facility as Iconex expands its legacy paper receipts and POS product offerings across retail, banking, kiosk, law enforcement and entertainment end markets.

Resource Label Group, a portfolio company of Ares Management, has acquired Scentisphere, a scent activation and marketing technology provider. The deal brings Scentisphere's scent sampling innovations and specialty inks/coatings into Resource Label's packaging and label capabilities as an add-on to the platform.

Tenex Capital Management has acquired Oliver Inc., a Hauppauge, New York-based provider of specialty paper-based packaging solutions, from Pfingsten. The transaction closed on July 6, 2022; Oliver operates five locations with over 500 employees and serves pharmaceutical, medical, food & beverage, and health & beauty end markets.

Three employee-owned Northeast label and packaging businesses — Syracuse Label & Surround Printing, Macaran Printed Products and W.N. Van Alstine — announced a merger to form a single organization that combines manufacturing, packaging equipment and distribution capabilities. The new business will retain the ESOP structure, be led by co-CEOs Nick Van Alstine and Kathy Alaimo (with Tom Sargent as President/CEO effective Jan 1, 2023), and will operate three facilities with 165,000 sq. ft., approximately 175 full-time employee-owners and $65 million in combined sales.

Premium Label & Packaging Solutions, a portfolio company of Dunes Point Capital, has acquired HP Mile, Inc., together with its brands Label One and Privateer, LTD. HP Mile is a converter of custom pressure-sensitive labels, extended content labels and specialty tapes with manufacturing facilities in Syracuse, New York and Old Saybrook, Connecticut and approximately 40 employees.

Handgards, Inc., a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners, has acquired Fine Line Settings, Inc., a Middletown, New York-based manufacturer and supplier of disposable tableware and packaging, including eco-friendly compostable and recyclable products. The acquisition is an add-on to the Handgards platform to broaden its foodservice product portfolio across North America; Fineline's founder Abraham Feig will continue to lead the business.

Summit Plastics, a LongueVue Capital portfolio company, has acquired Clear View Packaging, a 50+-year-old custom flexible packaging manufacturer based in Albany, New York. The add-on expands Summit's geographic footprint, product offerings and vertical integration across the packaging value chain while preserving continuity for Clear View's employees and customers.

American Securities has made a strategic investment in r-pac International to support the company's continued growth and global expansion. r-pac, a New York–based designer and manufacturer of branded packaging, trims, RFID-enabled tags and supply-chain sensor technologies, will leverage the capital and resources from American Securities to accelerate market expansion and product/technology initiatives.

ARMOR USA, Inc. has acquired the industrial segment of International Imaging Materials, Inc. (IIMAK) from ACON Investments; financial terms were not disclosed. ACON will retain ownership of IIMAK's medical contract manufacturing business (iiMED Medical Solutions), while ARMOR expands its thermal transfer ribbon and printing consumables footprint.

Clearlake Capital Group has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mold-Rite Plastics from Irving Place Capital. Mold-Rite, headquartered in Plattsburgh, New York, manufactures plastic closures, jars and child‑resistant dispensing solutions for healthcare, wellness, specialty food and personal care markets; financial terms were not disclosed. Clearlake called this a new platform investment to expand in healthcare and wellness packaging and to pursue organic growth and strategic add‑on acquisitions in the fragmented sector.

ProMach has acquired Modern Packaging, a Deer Park, New York-based manufacturer of cup and tray filling, sealing and lid-converting equipment for the food and dairy industries. Modern (founded 1989, with over 100 employees) will join ProMach’s Filling Business Line, with its founders remaining in leadership roles as ProMach invests to grow Modern’s capabilities and global reach.

M. Jacob & Sons (MJS), a Livonia, Michigan–based rigid packaging provider, has acquired Packaging Consultants Group (PCG) of Brewster, New York. PCG will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary with existing operations and employees retained; former owner Steve Penn will remain as president of the MJS subsidiary. The acquisition expands MJS's capabilities and regional presence in the Northeastern United States.
