Retail Acquisitions in Arizona

Pure Hockey has acquired Behind the Mask, a three-location Arizona hockey retailer, marking Pure Hockey's first entry into the Arizona market. The deal expands Pure Hockey's retail footprint to 77 stores across 25 states and brings Behind the Mask's Scottsdale, Peoria and Gilbert locations into Pure Hockey's network.

Camping World Holdings, Inc. has agreed to acquire RV Arizona Consignment Specialists, a consignment-focused RV dealer in El Mirage, Arizona, with the deal expected to close in Q4 2023. The acquisition establishes a platform and playbook for a nationwide rollout of consignment-exclusive locations and will be led by Marty Holman to expand Camping World's consignment capabilities and grow used RV sales.

Funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management have agreed to make a strategic equity investment in PetSmart, with BC Partners and its co-investors (including GIC and PetSmart management) remaining majority shareholders and retaining board control. The investment is intended to support PetSmart’s growth and operational initiatives across its omnichannel retail and services business; the transaction is expected to close in Q4 2023 and terms were not disclosed.

Camping World Holdings, Inc. agreed to acquire the operating dealership Anthem RV in New River, Arizona and will convert it to the Camping World brand at closing. The deal expands Camping World's presence in the greater Phoenix market and includes a new site to be built in Surprise, Arizona to serve the region.

Weave Growth Partners and Peninsula Capital Partners acquired a majority stake in Strolleria, a Scottsdale-based multi-channel retailer of high-end baby gear. The investors plan to support Strolleria’s growth by expanding its e‑commerce capabilities and applying technology-enabled analytics and automation to scale the business.

Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Natural Remedy Patient Center, a dispensary in Safford, Arizona, in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at approximately US$13 million. The deal (US$12M cash and US$1M in Curaleaf subordinate voting shares) is expected to close in January 2022 and expands Curaleaf's Arizona retail footprint while enabling a planned relocation to a flagship Scottsdale site.

RV Retailer, LLC (RVR) acquired Frost RV, a Tucson, Arizona-based RV dealership, with the transaction expected to close in August 2021. The acquisition expands RVR’s presence in Arizona (complementing its Tom’s Camperland stores in Phoenix) and brings Frost RV’s team, led by Bruce Frost, into the RVR family to grow new and used RV sales, service and parts.

GrowGeneration Corp. acquired Hydroponics Depot, Phoenix’s largest indoor and outdoor garden center, marking GrowGen’s entry into Arizona and expanding its retail footprint to 29 stores across 11 states. The acquisition provides GrowGeneration exposure to Arizona’s growing medical and potential recreational cannabis market; Hydroponics Depot reported year-to-date sales in excess of $5 million and ~50% year-over-year growth.
