Acquisitions in Maryland in 2017

Royal Philips has acquired US-based startup Analytical Informatics, Inc. to integrate the company's vendor-agnostic radiology workflow and analytics tools into Philips' PerformanceBridge radiology portfolio. The acquisition is intended to accelerate Philips' roadmap for Radiology Solutions by expanding operational intelligence, workflow optimization and data-driven decision support for imaging departments and enterprise customers; financial terms were not disclosed.

Cisco agreed to acquire BroadSoft, a provider of cloud PBX, unified communications, team collaboration and contact center software, for $1.9 billion (paying $55 per share). The deal strengthens Cisco's software- and cloud-focused collaboration portfolio and brings BroadSoft's large service-provider customer base and cloud voice/contact-center capabilities into Cisco's applications group.

Clubessential acquired PrestoSports Inc., a provider of SaaS athletic content and event management software, expanding Clubessential's customer base by ~65% and launching a new Sports Division. The deal is an add-on to Clubessential (backed by Battery Ventures) that broadens its membership and club management offering with collegiate athletics website, stats, camp management and live event broadcasting capabilities.

Red Hawk Fire & Security has acquired Tele-Tector of Maryland, a Columbia, MD-based integrated security systems provider, to expand Red Hawk's presence in the Mid-Atlantic and bolster its security systems integration capabilities. Chesapeake Corporate Advisors served as exclusive financial advisor to Tele-Tector; the sellers were the company's multiple shareholders.

Timmons Group, a Richmond-based civil and geospatial engineering firm, has acquired Robert H. Vogel Engineering, Inc., a civil engineering, land development and surveying firm based in Ellicott City, Maryland. The acquisition expands Timmons’ Maryland footprint and adds local surveying and land-development capabilities; Chesapeake Corporate Advisors served as exclusive financial advisor to Vogel Engineering.

Accenture has agreed to acquire First Annapolis Consulting, a payments-focused advisory firm headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, to expand Accenture’s consulting and digital capabilities in the payments sector. Financial terms were not disclosed; the acquisition is expected to close subject to customary conditions.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (AJG) acquired Construction Risk Solutions, LLC, a Hunt Valley, Maryland-based retail insurance broker specializing in property/casualty, risk management and surety services for the construction industry. Terms were not disclosed; John Wagner and his associates will continue to operate from their current location under Gallagher's Northeast retail property/casualty leadership, strengthening Gallagher's construction industry capabilities in the region.
