Acquisitions in South Dakota in 2024

Harbour Group has acquired Senproco, LLC and Groomer's Choice Pet Products, LLC, a Sioux Falls-based manufacturer and wholesale distributor of pet grooming supplies. Terms were not disclosed; founder Dan Dressen indicated he will retain a meaningful ownership position while partnering with Harbour Group to drive growth and operational improvements.

Asure (NASDAQ: ASUR) has acquired HireClick, an AI-enabled applicant tracking solution for small and mid-sized businesses, and will integrate the product into its cloud-based HCM suite. The acquisition expands Asure’s talent-management capabilities by adding a user-friendly ATS with job posting, applicant tracking, mobile applications and AI-assisted job description creation.

Arcadea Group has acquired Complete Flight, a Part 135 operations software provider, and will merge it with Flight Vector to create an end-to-end leader in aeromedical, utilities and mission-critical aviation markets. The deal positions Arcadea’s aviation platform to offer comprehensive solutions spanning CAD, OCC, maintenance and dispatch while founder Bernie Berg moves to Chief Product Officer.

Landwehr Construction, Inc., a fifth-generation, family-owned construction and crane services firm headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota, has acquired Jerke Construction, a Sioux Falls–based crane and rigging services provider. Jerke will operate as a division of Landwehr, expanding Landwehr’s crane services footprint and strengthening its ability to serve construction and wind-energy projects across the Midwest.

Builders FirstSource (NYSE: BLDR) has acquired Schoeneman's Building Materials Center, a long-established lumber and building materials dealer headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 1stWEST M&A served as advisor to Schoeneman's; the acquisition—completed within 45 days of signing the letter of intent—transfers the business from the Schoeneman family to Builders FirstSource.

Platinum Equity has made a significant investment in TAK Communications, a Sioux Falls-based provider of fiber and broadband network services. The investment will partner Platinum with TAK's current shareholders and management (who retain a significant ownership stake) to support national expansion, operational scaling and potential add-on M&A.

FleetPride, the nation's largest independent distributor of aftermarket heavy-duty parts, has acquired the assets of Wheelco Truck & Trailer Parts and Service, a third-generation family business based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The acquisition adds six retail parts locations, two service centers, a distribution center and an OEM manufacturing division to FleetPride, expanding geographic density across the Upper Midwest and creating a new OE Solutions division to serve trailer and specialty equipment OEMs.

Titan Machinery Inc. (Nasdaq: TITN) acquired the assets of Scott Supply Co., a full-line combined Case IH and New Holland dealership in Mitchell, South Dakota. The dealership generated approximately $40 million in revenue for the trailing twelve months ended Dec. 31, 2023; the asset purchase closed on January 10, 2024 and expands Titan's footprint in eastern South Dakota.
