Transportation Acquisitions in Washington

Estes Logistics, a division of Estes Express Lines, has acquired Key Trucking Inc, a regional full-service transportation and freight provider based in Kent, Washington. The acquisition expands Estes' footprint into the Pacific Northwest and transfers all current Key Trucking employees to Estes while preserving the company's legacy under the Castagno family ownership transition.

DAT Freight & Analytics, a business unit of Roper Technologies, has acquired Outgo Inc., a Seattle-based fintech that automates invoice payments and factoring for trucking carriers. The acquisition embeds Outgo's AI-powered payments and factoring capabilities into DAT One to speed and simplify carrier payments and expand DAT's financial services offering for carriers and brokers.

VIP Aviation Holdings, led by aviation and hospitality veterans Robert Greene, Sachi Greene, and Jeff Osatinski, has acquired Seattle-based VIP Hospitality, LLC. The transaction closed on May 2, 2025; Generational Group advised VIP Hospitality on the sale. VIP Hospitality is an airport hospitality and passenger experience services provider and will be integrated under the new ownership to expand operational capabilities and service offerings.

Crowley has acquired Main Line Inc., a Seattle-based vessel mooring company, in an asset purchase effective Jan. 1, 2025. The deal brings Main Line staff into Crowley and expands Crowley’s harbor services offering — providing coordinated vessel mooring and ship assist capabilities for customers calling on Seattle and Tacoma; terms were not disclosed.

GPS Trackit, the Inverness Graham-backed fleet telematics and video company, has acquired Zonar Systems from Continental. The deal (terms undisclosed) combines GPS Trackit's video telematics platform with Zonar's smart fleet management capabilities to deepen presence in government, education and commercial fleet markets and expand fleet safety, health and compliance offerings.

Medstar, a Washington-based non-emergency transport operator, acquired ATS Trans, LLC (Tacoma, WA) in a deal facilitated by IAG. The seller, Dianne Hutchins, financed the transaction after pandemic-era financing challenges; ATS Trans operates a fleet of ~60 vehicles and reported EBITDA of approximately $600,000.

Swiftly has acquired Hopthru to integrate Hopthru's ridership data and analytics into Swiftly's transit data platform, enhancing agencies' abilities to access, clean, monitor, and analyze ridership for NTD reporting, service planning, and scheduling. The acquisition extends Swiftly's modular platform to include statistician-certified ridership datasets and NTD certification workflows, improving agencies' service-planning and reporting capabilities.

Radiant Logistics (Radiant Global Logistics) has acquired Cascade Transportation, a Seattle-based non-asset third-party logistics provider. The deal — terms undisclosed — brings Cascade’s team and operations into Radiant’s network (Cascade will operate as Radiant Global Logistics) and expands Radiant’s presence in the retail, e-commerce, production furniture and tradeshow markets.

DFW Capital Partners-backed North American Rail Solutions (NARS), through its subsidiaries American Track and Universal Rail Systems, completed a series of add-on acquisitions to expand geographic coverage and service capabilities across the U.S. and Canada. Targets include West Rail Construction (Vancouver, WA), Strategic Rail (Tomahawk, WI), Tri Innovations Consulting Ltd. (Calgary, AB) and Condor Signals & Communications (Ontario) to broaden NARS' rail maintenance, construction, engineering and signals/communications offering.

Canada-based ATS Traffic has entered the U.S. market through a strategic partnership with Tacoma-based Advanced Government Services, Inc. (AGS). The deal will expand ATS Traffic’s service footprint into the Pacific Northwest while AGS’s president, Arti O'Brien, will continue to lead the local business.

FleetPride, Inc. has acquired the assets of Zender's Truck & Equipment, Parts & Service, Inc., a heavy-duty truck parts and service provider based in Bellingham, Washington. The deal expands FleetPride's national footprint — marking its first service location on the West Coast — and gives local customers access to FleetPride's supply chain, e-commerce and career development resources.

Swire Shipping has completed the acquisition of Westwood Shipping Lines from J-WeSco Ltd., expanding Swire’s liner network and vertically integrating its Pacific Northwest–Northeast Asia services. Westwood, headquartered in Puyallup, Washington, will continue operating its niche vessel services while benefiting from Swire’s broader container, network and project capabilities.

Forward Air Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Edgmon Trucking, LLC, a Kent, Washington-based intermodal drayage provider that generates about $22 million in annual revenue and employs 21 staff (with ~70 trucks operated mainly by independent contractors). The transaction will be funded from cash on hand, is expected to close in May 2022, and provides Forward Air its first West Coast location for its intermodal business to expand drayage capabilities at the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma.

Updater, the relocation technology platform, has acquired Dolly, an on-demand local moving and delivery service, to integrate Dolly's last-mile capabilities into Updater's marketplace and expand offerings for consumers and retail partners. Dolly will remain based in Seattle and operate as a subsidiary of Updater, enabling integrated routing of jobs between Dolly Helpers and Updater's MoveHQ full-service network.

SambaSafety acquired Instructional Technologies, Inc. (ITI), a Vancouver, Washington-based provider of online driver training and an LMS, to integrate ITI's training content and Sentix LMS into SambaSafety's Qorta continuous driver monitoring platform. The deal adds online training and automated assignment capability to SambaSafety's risk-management offering, enabling customers to close the safety loop with training tied to observed driver behavior.

The Silverfern Group, in partnership with Upper Bay Infrastructure Partners, has acquired Tidewater Transportation & Terminals, a multi-commodity transportation, terminal and marine services company headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. The investment positions the buyers to pursue development projects and potential add-on acquisitions across Tidewater’s operations on the Columbia and Snake River system.
