Nvidia Acquires Synthetic Data Startup Gretel

Nvidia has acquired synthetic data startup Gretel in a nine-figure deal, folding Gretel’s team of roughly 80 employees into Nvidia to integrate its synthetic-data platform into Nvidia’s cloud and generative AI services. The purchase price reportedly exceeds Gretel’s most recent $320 million valuation; Gretel provides a synthetic data platform and APIs used by developers and privacy-sensitive end markets such as healthcare and finance.

Nvidia has reportedly agreed to acquire incident-automation startup Shoreline Inc. in a deal valued at around $100 million, according to Bloomberg. Shoreline, founded in 2019, provides cloud observability and runbook-driven remediation software for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud and had raised roughly $57 million from investors including Insight Venture Partners, NTT Venture Capital and Dawn Capital.
