NearForm Acquires Formidable

Irish-founded NearForm has acquired Formidable, a Seattle-based design and engineering consultancy, to expand its global software and product design capabilities. The deal brings Formidable's US presence and enterprise client relationships (including Puma, Lululemon, Starbucks and Walmart) into NearForm's platform, and NearForm remains led by CEO Ciarán Cosgrave with Formidable CEO Ryan Roemer joining the NearForm executive leadership team.

Global investment firm Carlyle has agreed to acquire AutoForm AG, a Swiss provider of sheet metal forming and Body-in-White (BiW) assembly simulation software, from private equity firm Astorg. The transaction — subject to regulatory approvals — will see Carlyle support AutoForm’s growth by investing in its software platform, commercial operations and pursuing further acquisitions; financial terms were not disclosed.

Ares Management and Partners Acquire Majority Stake in Form Technologies

Ares Management funds have acquired a majority of Form Technologies' common equity as part of a financing package that injected approximately $304 million of new equity to deleverage the company and support strategic growth. The capital—$154 million of common equity from Ares, the D. E. Shaw group and Onex Credit, plus $150 million of preferred equity from the D. E. Shaw group and Ripple Industries—will fund investments in operational capabilities and commercial expansion across Form Technologies' global manufacturing footprint.
