Sika Acquires Butterfield Color

Sika has acquired Butterfield Color, Inc., a US-based, family-owned maker of decorative concrete colorants, sealers and stamping/texturing tools based near Chicago. The purchase (Butterfield had CHF 20 million in sales in 2016) expands Sika's product portfolio and contractor presence in North America and, combined with the earlier Scofield acquisition, positions Sika as the market leader in decorative concrete solutions.

International private equity firm Cinven has signed an agreement to acquire MBCC Group’s Admixtures business from Sika AG. MBCC Admixtures, headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, is a global manufacturer of concrete admixtures with more than 1,600 employees and 35 production sites; the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to complete in the first half of the year.

Charger Investment Partners Acquires SBG Holdings

Charger Investment Partners has partnered with SBG management to acquire SBG Holdings, a Rockford, Tennessee–headquartered manufacturer of consumables and specialized equipment for polished concrete flooring (brands include SASE and Bartell Global). Financial terms were not disclosed; the seller was Blue Point Capital Partners, which had owned SBG since 2017 and significantly expanded the platform prior to the sale. Charger said it will work with management to accelerate growth and continue product innovation.
