Dow Agrees to Acquire Circulus, North American Polyethylene Recycler

Dow has signed an agreement to acquire Circulus, a North American polyethylene recycler that operates facilities in Ardmore, Oklahoma and Arab, Alabama, adding 50,000 metric tons per year of recycled material capacity. The acquisition strengthens Dow's mechanical recycling capabilities and supports its goal to produce 3 million metric tons of circular and renewable solutions annually by 2030. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Circular Services Acquires Waste Recycling Inc.

Circular Services has acquired Waste Recycling Inc. (WRI), a Montgomery, Alabama–based recycling services provider with facilities in Montgomery, Anniston, Tuscaloosa and Opelika. The deal expands Circular Services' materials management and recycling footprint across Alabama and the Southeastern United States, strengthening its ability to serve industrial customers — notably automotive manufacturers — and recover valuable materials at scale.

Balcones Resources Acquires Single Stream Recyclers

Balcones Resources, backed by Closed Loop Partners, has acquired Single Stream Recyclers (SSR), an AI-powered materials recovery facility in Sarasota, Florida. The deal is an add-on to Balcones' recycling platform to expand its footprint in the Southeast and bring advanced sorting technology (AMP Robotics) and operational expertise to SSR; terms were not disclosed.

McKinley Paper (Bio Pappel) Acquires Midwest Paper Group from Industrial Opportunity Partners

Industrial Opportunity Partners has completed the sale of portfolio company Midwest Paper Group Holdings, Inc. to McKinley Paper Company, a subsidiary of Bio Pappel S.A. de C.V.; terms were not disclosed. Midwest Paper is a Combined Locks, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of recycled containerboard and recycled bag products, and the divestiture represents IOP’s first realization from its third fund.

Delos Capital and The Silverfern Group Acquire Pioneer Recycling Services

Delos Capital and The Silverfern Group partnered to acquire Pioneer Recycling Services, a Tacoma, Washington–based operator of materials recovery facilities (MRFs) serving residential, commercial, municipal and industrial customers across the Pacific Northwest. Capstone Partners advised Pioneer (a portfolio company of Central Valley Fund) on the transaction; the PE buyers said they will partner with Pioneer’s management to grow the business and invest in its processing capabilities.
