Closed Loop Partners-Led Consortium Acquires Majority Stake in Sims Municipal Recycling

A fund managed by Closed Loop Partners led a consortium of investors, including the Partnership Fund for New York City and several strategic corporate investors, to acquire a majority stake in Sims Municipal Recycling (SMR). The investment will modernize and expand SMR's circular-economy infrastructure across the New York–New Jersey metro area and Florida, accelerate recovery of recyclable commodities, and support geographic and capability expansion of SMR's operations.

Circular Services / Balcones Recycling Acquires Midwest Fiber Recycling

Circular Services, through its recycling arm Balcones Recycling, has acquired Midwest Fiber Recycling, a family-owned materials recovery and recycling company with operations in Illinois and Indiana. The deal expands Balcones' MRF footprint into the Midwest, adds collection and brokerage capabilities, and keeps Midwest Fiber's management team in place to support further growth under Circular Services' platform.

EcoSouth Florida (Kinderhook) Acquires A Waste and Recycling

EcoSouth Florida, a portfolio company of Kinderhook Industries, has acquired A Waste and Recycling, a roll-off waste collection company with a transfer station in Sarasota, Florida. The deal expands EcoSouth Florida’s presence and capabilities in the Sarasota market; A Waste founder and CEO Roger Alvarez will partner with EcoSouth Florida post-close. Financing was provided by Comerica Bank and Akin Gump served as legal counsel to the buyer.

LRS Acquires Sunshine Sanitation

LRS (LRS Companies), a Rosemont, Illinois–based waste diversion and recycling provider, has acquired Sunshine Sanitation, a Rochester, Minnesota–area provider of municipal solid waste (MSW) collection, commercial recycling, roll-off and transfer station services. The deal expands LRS’s Minnesota footprint and preserves Sunshine’s employees and local operations; financial terms were not disclosed.

Commercial Metals Company Acquires Advanced Steel Recovery

(RTS) has acquired RecycleSmart Solutions, Inc., Canada's largest independent provider of smart waste diversion and recycling management technology, including the Pello IoT sensor platform. The acquisition expands RTS's footprint into Canada and broadens its IoT- and data-driven waste management product portfolio and recurring service offerings.
