onsemi Acquires GT Advanced Technologies

onsemi has completed its acquisition of GT Advanced Technologies (GTAT), a U.S.-based producer of silicon carbide (SiC). The acquisition strengthens onsemi's SiC crystal growth and wafer capabilities to secure supply for EV, EV charging and energy infrastructure markets and onsemi plans to invest in GTAT's manufacturing and R&D to scale 150mm and 200mm SiC production.

Bosch Acquires Assets of TSI Semiconductors

Bosch is acquiring the assets of U.S. chipmaker TSI Semiconductors in Roseville, California, and plans to invest more than $1.5 billion to convert and expand the facility for silicon carbide (SiC) chip production. The deal gives Bosch a foundry with roughly 250 employees and about 10,000 square meters of clean-room space, accelerating its capability to produce SiC chips for automotive, telecommunications and energy markets and expanding its semiconductor manufacturing footprint in the United States.
