BioIVT Acquires Valley Biomedical Products & Services

BioIVT, a provider of research models and value-added research services, has acquired Valley Biomedical Products & Services, an FDA-registered manufacturer of in vitro diagnostics, sera, plasma and reagents based in Winchester, Virginia. The acquisition will expand BioIVT’s capabilities in IVD manufacturing and cell & gene therapy support by combining Valley Biomedical’s reagent and blood-product manufacturing with BioIVT’s donor centers and specimen services; BioIVT will continue operating the Winchester facility and retain its staff.

Asahi Kasei Medical Acquires Bionova Scientific

Asahi Kasei Medical agreed to wholly acquire Bionova Scientific, a Fremont, California-based biopharmaceutical CDMO that provides process development and GMP-compliant manufacturing services for next-generation antibody drugs. The acquisition, executed through a U.S. subsidiary, expands Asahi Kasei Medical's bioprocess and CDMO capabilities to better serve biologics developers and accelerate growth of its bioprocess business; closing is subject to regulatory clearances.

Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Acquires Forge Biologics

Ajinomoto Co., Inc. will acquire Forge Biologics in an all-cash transaction valued at $620 million, expanding Ajinomoto's gene therapy and plasmid/AAV manufacturing capabilities. Forge, a Columbus, Ohio–based viral vector and plasmid CDMO with a 200,000 sq ft cGMP facility and ~300+ employees, will become a consolidated subsidiary to accelerate global gene and cell therapy manufacturing capacity.

LFB Plasma Acquires ImmunoTek Bio Center in Florence, South Carolina

LFB Plasma, the U.S. plasma collection arm of France-based LFB Group, has acquired the ImmunoTek Bio Center collection site in Florence, South Carolina. The Florence center — LFB Plasma's first site in South Carolina and third in the U.S. — will transfer all 18 employees to LFB as the company expands its U.S. plasma collection footprint to increase domestic plasma supply.

The deal combines BioCheck's chemiluminescent assay development and automation platform with DRG's R&D, manufacturing and global distribution network to accelerate development and global scale-up of advanced clinical and research diagnostic tests.
