United Utility Services, a Bernhard Capital Partners-backed utility services platform, has acquired BHI Power Delivery from Westinghouse Electric Company. The acquisition adds BHI’s transmission, substation and distribution capabilities and more than 1,200 employees and 170+ crews, expanding United Utility’s geographic footprint and creating one of the largest independent U.S. transmission & distribution services providers.

BHI Energy Acquires Coastal Electrical Construction

BHI Energy has acquired Coastal Electrical Construction, a Flomaton, Alabama–based provider of substation, transmission and distribution construction and maintenance services to major utilities in the Southeastern United States. The deal is the third add-on for BHI in the T&D space since its acquisition by AE Industrial Partners and is intended to expand BHI's geographic footprint and service capabilities in the Southeast; terms were not disclosed.

Cameco and Brookfield Acquire Westinghouse Electric Company

Cameco and Brookfield (with Brookfield Renewable Partners and institutional partners) have completed their joint acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Company after receiving required regulatory approvals, with the transaction closing on or about November 7, 2023. Cameco will finance its share using a US$600 million term loan and available cash; the deal transfers ownership of Westinghouse (a leading nuclear technology and services provider headquartered in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania) from Brookfield Business Partners to the new investor group.

Westinghouse Acquires 50% Stake in Tecnatom, Forms JV with Endesa

Westinghouse Electric Company has completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in Spanish engineering firm Tecnatom, purchasing shares previously held by Iberdrola and Naturgy. Tecnatom will be operated as a joint venture between Westinghouse and Endesa, strengthening Westinghouse's global nuclear capabilities in refueling, engineering and digital services.

Brillion Acquires Automated Energy, Inc.

The acquisition expands Brillion’s ability to serve commercial and industrial (C&I) utility customers by adding AEI’s interactive analytics and energy-management capabilities to Brillion’s engagement platform.

Pelican Energy Partners Acquires Electrical Builders Industries

Pelican Energy Partners, a Houston-based private equity firm, has acquired Electrical Builders Industries (EBI), a St. Cloud, Minnesota-based industrial electrical and welding services provider that specializes in bus duct installation, replacement and repair for power generation facilities. The deal positions Pelican to expand its capabilities in the nuclear energy services supply chain and support increased baseload power needs for customers including datacenter facilities.
