Daybreak Games Acquires Cold Iron Studios

Daybreak Games has acquired Cold Iron Studios, the San Jose-based developer working on a PC and console game set in the Alien universe. Cold Iron will operate independently under co-founder Craig Zinkievich and receive publishing, marketing, tech and operational support from Daybreak; terms were not disclosed.

Atari Acquires Night Dive Studios

Atari entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of Night Dive Studios Inc., a Vancouver, Washington-based game development and publishing studio, for an initial consideration of US$10 million (half cash, half Atari shares) plus an earn-out of up to US$10 million. Atari also announced plans to issue €30 million in convertible bonds to support the acquisition, refinance debt and fund growth initiatives, while Irata LLC agreed to provide bridge financing for the initial consideration.

Facebook’s Oculus Studios has acquired Sanzaru Games, a veteran VR game developer. The studio will join Oculus Studios while operating independently out of its existing U.S. (and Canadian) offices, with the majority of Sanzaru’s staff moving to Facebook to continue building VR game content.
